Without a credit agreement (i.e. real default of a real debt, which a private parking charge is not) and without going to Small Claims Court first?! And the PPC actually winning?! And then you refusing to pay in the unlikely event of you losing?! When 99% of scammer PPCs do not EVER take anyone to Court? They don't have to because over half the mugs roll over and pay the scammers - it's the very fact that there's a daft/uninformed majority of people in this Country with more money than sense that allows this rip-off to continue.
If the scenario you fear were possible then anyone could send bailiffs round to anyone else! They can't!
Have you not read the stickies, seen the Watchdog clip, seen the letter-chain thread with previews of all the scary letters? Read the stickies by Crabman'PPC letters, what to expect' and 'welcome, please read before posting' (the irony of that sticky thread title never ceases to amuse...).0 -
I just wanted to check if anyone on here knows if the meters are still covered up in the car park like shown in the picture?
I parked in that car park on 19th June to pick up people with bikes having done the london to brighton and have just received a parking notice. I think the barriers were up and the machines covered and thats why I didn't think I had to pay at the time (but I'm not completly sure of this) but just wanted to check that just ignoring this notice is what I should do?
Thanks0 -

ALWAYS ignore any private parking charge notice = SCAM.
ALWAYS. Even if you think you may have contravened one of their made-up rules, ignore them. PPCs have no power to fine anyone.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

This is an absolute scam, caught by CCTV on 8th October, PCN dated 24th, 16 days after supposed offence and letter received on 26th - try to pay online and refuses to accept reduced payment! Absolute scam ,how can you pay reduced fee when notification not received in time!! Am taking up with trade body, yes there is one, BCPA, try it. Stop the cowboys.0

I assume you mean the BPA, yes they are a trade body and all they will say is that its nothing to do with them , you will have to take it up with meteor. Thay will only say to ANY letter rec'd that your appeal has failed send us the loot. Just ignore them. If their terms and conditions are like the ones at our nearby station they would take 20 mins to read to make sure you don't contravene and then you'll get a ticket for not buying a ticket whilst reading.
Just ignore them, don't waste your paper and stamp.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0 -
Thanks Sirdan
I hear what you say, but wonder whether - for my own peace of mind - to just send my 'appeal' and have the fine removed?
You seem to be taking a lot of convincing. Why did you ask for advice if you are not prepared to accept it. Posters on here are not just making it up you know. Their replies are based on experience and precedent.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -

Let me get this right - you tried to pay? What made you think you had to pay?
Even worse, perhaps, is your faith in the BPA, a Trade Body made up of...fat cats from private parking companies. What do you their answer is going to be?PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
