Cancelling account & family member signing up as "new customer" - ?

Just read in the money tips email that TalkTalk Essentials is cheaper for new customers than what I'm currently paying for it.

It crossed my mind that the bill is purely in my name. I'm not in a contract with them anymore so I'm free to cancel. Can I cancel and get my OH to sign up as a new customer to get the same package cheaper? Or is it not that simple? Just want to see if there's something I might not have thought of... e.g. would we be left without internet for any period of time while switching from one customer to another?

    Hi thriftymanc,

I would imagine if you call the retentions dept and explain that you want the deal or you will leave, then in return for agreeing to a new contract they would certainly consider offering you a deal. That would be the simplest way.

You don't need to cancel, if you are out of your minimum term (you are still in a 30 day rolling contract) then you can phone up and ask for the current deal (or better) in return for another 12m or more of TT...if you must.
