My tax reminder came through this morning &, out of curiosity, I checked my insurance status on askMID & apparently I'm not insured. Since I paid out a substantial chunk in January (I did all Martin suggests, but have, ahem, a chequered motoring past), I'm not too happy but uncertain how much clout the MID Database has. If I crack on trying to tax online will the system have a paddy & refuse to let me? Apparently not.

"If you believe you are insured but your vehicle is not appearing on the MID you must contact your insurance provider to submit your policy detail immediately."

Ah, all nice & law abiding user friendly as usual then.
I'll go fetch me shovel & play hunt the blinking paperwork.
(Take it to the post office? Amongst my "filed somewhere safe" documents is the V5. Something of a facer.)

    Edited to add:
Had a blinding glimpose of the blinkiing obvious, checked my email & called Octagon, yes not a problem, my "details will be retransmitted on Monday".
So, here's hoping shovel can stay propped in a corner!

Go to the post office with the V5, MOT and insurance certificate, fill out a V10 and do it at the counter, simple.

You dont need a V10 if your buying at the Post Office. You need the reminder or the V5 and Insurance Certificate and MOT if it needs one (although our system can now look up the MOT electronically, but always take in your certificate in case there is a problem)

Also (not related to the quoted post I know) but we can now accept faxed or downloaded copies of certificate of motor insurance in branch.
