My Nan & Grandad had caravans on Robin Hood when we were kids, we use to spend every holiday there.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.
Daniel Defoe: 1725.

Hi, dont know how to say this without sounding sneering or snobbish (im neither) BUT as we drove past there the other week on route to elsewhere, my (little) son decided he needed the loo so we pulled in there to use the toilet.
Had to use the toilets in arcade, full of people in vests, tracksuit bottoms and flipflops chain smoking outside,it was raining(flipflops). Seems a shame as I also knew people who had caravans there when i was younger, however most people sold when it joined with the camp next door so became too big and because there was over supply of rental caravans people were just renting them to any tom, !!!!!! or harry to help play the site fees.0 -
It's a **** Hole. We used to have the Welsh Pool Festival up there and the standard of accommodation is shocking. I'm sure there are far better sites in the area.0

I had holidays there in the 70's with my grandparents but as the other posters have advised it is now a bit ( a lot) of a sh*thole.0

When we were little Lyons used to be the sh*t hole and robin hood camp (next door) was always the nicer and bigger of the two. Very suprised that Lyons bought out robin hood and it went downhill with long term single familys being offered long term lets by holiday home owner that couldnt shift vicious circle etc.etc etc.Shame good memories. Always been "little liverpool" nicest fruity curry and chips in he world. My brother has just moved off lyons(14 months) and gone into a flat in Rhyl and even he says its a dump. AND THAT SPEAKS VOLUMES FOR A BLOKE THAT FORGETS HIS OWN NAME MOST NIGHTS. hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world :cool:0

If you're looking to stay in that area have a look at some of the sites in Towyn, which is a couple of miles outside of Rhyl but believe me the further from the Rhyl the better. Towyn is basically a mini version of Rhyl, i.e. amusement arcades and kebab shops, but without the same level of social deprivation and violence. Towyn also has the best funfair in the area at the Tir Prince Raceway.
There are some quite nice camps in Towyn, have a look at Ty Mawr or Winkups.

Ive been there once before and it was ok for a budget caravan park, although i didnt really stay around the caravan site most days as was out sightseeing further into wales and used it as a base, although due to being made redundant while on maternity leave and only my husbands wage coming in we are having to watch the pennys alot so we have booked a week here going on 28th May 2011, with our three kids, when i went last time on the occassions i went into the club house in the evening there was always alot of 'scally' looking people outside so you had to walk through a cloud of smoke but once you got in there was lots of entertainment for the kids and they have a kids club as well, there are also plenty of buses to get about wales if you have no car, i got a bus to the welsh mountain zoo and to rhos on sea, the one to llandudno takes a while but is very scenic.Rhonda :rotfl::rotfl:

There's a direct train service every hour from Rhyl to Llandudno which I'd guess would be much quicker than going by bus. It's even quite scenic in places, in particular just after you leave Llandudno Junction and you can see Conwy castle on the other side of the water. I don't know how the prices compare to the buses though, probably more expensive I'd imagine. The fridge is empty, the walls are damp, there's no hot water
