Repairs aftter the 60,000 mile limit?

Report the problem to the main dealer now.
Make sure that they understand that the mileage at the time you are reporting the problem is 59nnn.
Would make for an interesting discussion if they refused the warranty claim.
Especially if they said "bring it in next Tuesday" and when you arrived the mileage was over 60k because they couldn't fit you in earlier.

Disconnect speedo 'til you're taking it in.0

Once you have informed them of a problem then they should be obliged to fix it.
I once had a small creaking noise on a car that they didn't fix within the warranty, when it went in for the next service just after the warranty had expired I informed them that the noise was still there, they replaced the lower wishbone bushes which cured the problem.
I think it depends a lot on the dealer an make of car, the car in question was a Subaru Legacy, never broke down that car and to be honest the only issue where caused by mine being one of the first ones imported, must admit that I have never had any major issues with main dealers, but then I may just be lucky.0 -
Drive there backwards or get a lowloader for the 1st 21 miles.0

...because that WOULD be cheaper than getting a local garage to fix it out of your own pocket...skiddlydiddly wrote: »Drive there backwards or get a lowloader for the 1st 21 miles.0 -

I had a similar problem, rang Fiat to report it, and had no problems when I went in out of warranty by a week or two, as I had reported it previously.
If they can't agree over the phone, drive in before the warranty expires, and drag the service manager out to look at it. He can then book it in at his leisure, once he has seen the fault.0 -
I work in the fleet industry and Ford operate what is called a ' DAWA' scale for goodwill on repairs over the warranty mileage/age that works on a sliding scale. AFAIK this applies to both private & fleet cars but they can insist on service history and it will usually have to be a dealer history. The dealer will be aware of this, whatever they try to tell you... definately worth a try anyway.0

Actually I think I'd solved the problem. My trips were going to add up to 131 miles thus putting my total at 60,031. However I managed to make my trip I needed to do last night by train and I'll be driving the "shortest" route home - which should take a while. But if all goes to plan I should turn up at the dealers door with 59,980 miles on the clock!!0 -

I'd tried to do that, but the guy on the phone was like "oh it's not as simple as just looking at it, we'd have to take it into the workshop and diagnose the fault properly, and we can't do that, far too busy, far too busy" ....0
