Assuming the OP's version of events is accurate, the store manager breached section 5 of the Public Order Act - words, actions or behaviour that caused someone else alarm or distress.

Half the rubbish I read on here (not your post!) causes me alarm or distress. Life's full of it, frankly. Got to learn which battles are worth fighting. :)

I feel that the manager made a presumption about my partner as he is tattooed. I would hate to think that this is the case, however, taking into account the way he not only spoke to him but his overall behaviour when he was challenged about what he had said, I can only assume he made some sort of presumption about him based on his appearance. I

I sort of had a bit of sympathy right up until this point - you are now stating without proof that the manager is prejudiced based on him not saying anything regarding your OH appearence - that's not fair.
You said yourself that your hands were full of items so a bottle of Pepsi could easily have been knocked off the shelf, maybe the manager did over-react and he should not have used foul language but maybe he also saw an accident waiting to happen and didn't want a stack of spoiled stock to write off because someone didn't take the time to think:)

As someone else has already said - you have had your say, he has probably had a ticking off so time to move on and get on with more important s***!!!

HMV are hardly going to go out of business without your patronage, are they?

Also the Police have much more serious things to be dealing with.

Our entire trip was ruined by this incident and we headed straight home after leaving your store in absolute disgust.

Get a grip. If it was such a traumatic incident I'd have thought you'd want to put it behind you. You've made your complaint, now it's time to move on. Or get some counselling.

People leave all sorts on my fixtures. On saturday, someone left a full cup of Starbucks beverage on my radios fixture. I picked it up and whisked it to a bin. There were too many people around to ask who left it there, and tbh, they shouldn't be putting drinks near electrical equipment anyway.

It's not as bad as those who leave empty wrappers and half eaten sandwiches in my shop. Bunch of savages in my town.

Shocking isn't it, I wouldn't dream of taking food and drink into a shop or business. Just shows how bad peoples manners and respect for others have got.

It's one of my pet hates to see folk eating and drinking as they walk round shops. Are they that desperately hungry? If so, why not consume the food outside then wash their hands before they go into a shop? I bet these "entitled" selfish people that leave sticky marks all over merchandise would be the first to complain if they got home and found someone's elses lunch smeared all over their new purchase. I think any manager worth their salt should be asking customers to either stop or go outside till they finish their snack. I'd be down on my kids like a ton of bricks if they did that. Ewwww....

On the other hand swearing at someone is not on. I also hate the way folk wander around fffffing and blinding just as a random part of general conversation, let alone at other people. TBH though I'm in agreement that there's a part of the story that we didn't hear in this case. Store managers are normally trained to start by being polite but firm when they're calling out a customer. Sounds like there just might have been a tiny bit of provocation?

(I like tattoos btw. Very sexy.)
