Hello!! Thought I'd pop back to the thread for a catch up, not been on this thread for a little while - nice to see it's going strong.
It's all change for me at the minute, hunting for new jobs. I'll be off most of Dec so I'm starting on a few projects that will take advantage of my free time and keep me busy!0 -
Hi Everyone
Just time for a quick catch up and then I really must go to bed - I'm done for....
Well I've had a very busy couple of weeks - house sale looking good - so keep your fingers crossed.
We're aiming for exchange round about 12th December although I had to sack my useless waste of space of a solicitor. Long story - won't bore you but she's lost me a couple of weeks so it's all push push push now to play catch up. At least my new solicitor seems to be on the ball.
After that we are looking at a legal completion on 14th January which is good so I can have OH home on Christmas and Boxing Day and then have a couple of weeks overlap to make the move nice and easy.
I've been to see a couple of properties today. I shall be renting for a while. The plan is to wait for my endowments to mature in July and then I shall know exactly how much money I have to play with. Then I will buy that "project" :rotfl:
Whilst I am living in rented I will use the time to do those courses I fancy and I've also got some furniture to upcycle and then when the better weather comes (yeah right) get cracking on those antique fairs.
The EA I'm dealing with has offered me a part-time job - I'm mulling it over - not sure I have time at the moment. Perhaps in the New Year after we've moved and have settled in, although my next major task will be to help my parents to move into sheltered accommodation - that is if I can get mum to agree.
Ah well - life has it's challenges...
Good luck with the job hunting Miss Unidebt.
Hope you are all working hard, doing well and making lots of money.;)0 -

Sounds like 2013 is going to start off great for you :T.A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

Lots of money being made, just took £5,000 off my debts today. £2,000 from pay yesterday and £3,000 from emergency fund. Fund still has "plenty" in it.
Starting a new savings plan as of next month, all will be revealed nearer the time.
Due to complete house purchase on 07/12...all we need is a mortgage in place...which noone seems to want to give us!!! So it doesnt look likely at all for our plans of home ownership.
2013 is going to be a great year for me, i think December will be a good warm up!!:eek:Living frugally at 24

Just thought I would say good luck to all who are participating, I read around 200 posts in the last 3 hours and I got tired! But I love the enthusiasm and commitment that you all have.
Im currently reading a few books based on millionaires and money management, and they all provide quality information on debt, finances and investments (okay, some do).
I will be following this post regularly.
Again, good luck!Debts:

On the Monevator blog that I recommended before, the author has written a Xmas list of financial books this week that may be of interest to some of you.
PS it's a .com website
Had some good news this week, I got two lots of £25 from my Premium Bonds this month.
Also managed to renegotiate my phone bill with TalkTalk, got it down from £24 per month to under £16 per month inc line rental.0 -
This is an amazing thread which I have been working my way through over the last few weeks. I love all the positivity, even when times are hard. I have recently came across a website which has definitely got my interest, http://personalexcellence.co/ , it's full of information and I think many people on this thread would find it interesting.Mortgage Free in 3-T2 : Started at £151,000 Nov. 2009 Mortgage Free Oct 1st 2015

Thanks for the link - looks good. I definitely agree with letting go of anger. Life throws a curved ball from time - deal with it and move on.
My husband is slowly dying - he's just 55. There's nothing we can do to stop it. So I'm making the most of the time we have left and I'm also rebuilding my life and my finances bit by bit.
I could be angry and bitter but what would be the point. I do feel a little cheated that we have been robbed of our "golden years" together but at least we had a great marriage (30 years) and we have two fab sons.
Yes his illness has cost us a lot of money but it is only money and I can work hard and build up again.
It's slow progress but I'm getting there.
DS2 has bought some shares - just £100 to start with to practise. He seems to be picking it up very quickly so I think I will take a look at that in the new year. He can pick and manage them for me,
My view is you do need to speculate to accumulate.:D
Time for lunch and start some decluttering.0 -

I am so sorry to hear that, I had no idea that your husband was so young. You are an extremely strong person to be coping with so much and as you say, you could end up feeling nothing but bitterness, which is a terribly negative emotion, that serves no purpose and does you no favours.
I am glad that the house sale is going so well. Hopefully you will have a change in fortunes from now on and life will start to brighten. It won't make up for the loss of a future with your husband, but you still have lots to look forward to, I am sure.Mortgage Free in 3-T2 : Started at £151,000 Nov. 2009 Mortgage Free Oct 1st 2015
