What a great feeling it would be going to work knowing whatever i earn that day is all mine and is all for saving.

Unfortunately HMRC will not let this happen.

If you were referring to net income for one day a week, with careful planning it would not be impossible to save this. Many years ago I was able to save quite a bit from my salary.

No i was refering to everything from my "9 to 5" to be saved. Every penny i get. Any overtime(i am registered self employed now for homers etc) i get i will live off of that money....so will save at least my salary.

  • Hi de Hi campers... just a little thought for you all, my 2 girls and I are going to be volunteering for a few hrs on Xmas eve for our local hospice. We will be packing bags at a local store in the hope people will donate a few pence....

Little bit of social conscience followed by a couple of drinks :-)

  • What a lovely thing to do. In the spirit of the best kind of business person/entrepenuer (sp).:)

Did you watch the programme about "Good Bankers" - yes there really are such things or at least there used to be.

Look on the back of the £5 note and you will see a piccie of Elizabeth Fry - the great prison reformer. She was one of the daughters of a great Victorian banking family - allegedly a distant ancestor of my OH's.:)

My charity shop volunteering is not really on the same scale but I like to do my bit.:rotfl:

I keep having more and more thoughts about going self employed. Don't like making my boss richer and richer when I could be doing it for myself. Good prices and long hours will eventually lead to good prices and good hours. So many people have made millions from property, why can't i?!

A couple of self builds to sell, a couple to keep and rent out and keep going like that a few at a time hopefully end up with 4 or 5 houses mortgage free and rented out.
