    Hi All,

Back from Thailand and it was amazing. Ive had a good break, looked at things afresh and seen a whole new way of life over there.

    Hi tinktay84,

I remember you starting this challenge, after a long break from these forums I've returned and noticed this post is still alive and kicking. I was going to work my way through the posts until I spotted 165 pages of posts to cover so I'm cheating and just asking you directly.

It's been just over Five years since your opening post, how much have you managed to bank or what is your net worth towards your millionaire challenge?

    Thanks in advance!

    Kindest regards
    Alan

I think that the end goal should be the lifestyle you achieve, the way to get there is based on who you become in the process. I would start by reading "Think and grow rich" by Napoleon hill then putting his ideas into practice.

Well my aim is to live the millionaire lifestyle but without making that £1m because at nearly 65 I doubt I have time left to make a £1m.:rotfl:

Although I'm going to give a good try. ;)

    Good morning everyone.......

Very quiet on here, hope you are all busy making money and enjoying this beautiful weather.

I have finished my paper work sort out and last night, after watching the latest episode of Game of Thrones (fab) I had a lovely evening burning it all on the chimenea whilst drinking some Pinot Grigio and watching the flames. A nice end to a lovely day, having lunch at the garden centre where my son works, buying some plants (taking advantage of sons discount of course) and then sunning myself in a deckchair whilst rereading the "Four Hour Work Week".

Good book - lots of ideas on how to maximise time and income......

This morning I have paid a couple of bills and moved money around to maximise interest - all done online whilst sat here in my jammies and drinking my first cup of coffee......

WHat a nice easy way to make a few £s :rotfl:

You will see from my signature that I have also rejoined the £10 a day and the grocery challenges to help me get back on track and stay motivated. It might sound a bit anal perhaps but I do find that strict monitoring of all spending and savings helps me focus and be more efficient.

I have had a little spending spree recently. One of my favourite independent shoe shops is closing down and has been selling off stock. I have taken the opportunity of restocking my shoe wardrobe and have bought 6 (yes 6) pairs of shoes and boots. :rotfl:

In my defence they were less than half price so absolute bargains. I won't need new shoes or boots for at least 5 years so I'm regarding the expenditure as a "medium term investment". ;)

I also bought my new senior rail card, went for a three year one this time, saving £20. So hopefully lots of exciting rail journeys over the next 3 years - starting with London in a couple of weeks. First class of course.......;)

Did I mention I have also now got a Gold Card which gives free bus travel. I might give that a whirl for short hops into the city centre because car parking fees have increased yet again. I paid £3 for 20 minutes the other day........

APparently the Gold Card can be used in a number of shops. My hairdresser gives 20 per cent discount. What's not to like.

    Alan and Renalt.

I'm about 25 per cent on target to that million, although I have gifted around £100k to my sons as deposits and renovation budgets.

All part of my "exit strategy". They may as well have the money now when they are just starting out. At least this way they are not burning money in rent.

My starting point was £30k in debt. I'm very happy with my progress so far.

As I've said - given my age - 65 next monthI doubt that I'll make The magic £1m figure - although I'll give it a whirl. I intend to live a looooooong time. :D

One thing I have learned is that that it is possible to enjoy a very good lifestyle on quite a limited budget. I use this website regularly and read a number of money blogs and books.

I have learned so much over the last few years. If I had known what I know now when I was in my 20s or even 30s There is no doubt in my mind that I would be sitting on at least £1m by now.

But hey it doesn't matter, you are never too old to learn. I am living proof that you can teach an old dog new tricks. I live simply but well and I now have a secure future ahead of me with sufficient passive income to meet both my needs and wants.

I do think that if you start early enough then making that £1m is achievable.

I have really enjoyed engaging with this challenge and shall continue to take part.

    It's fun......:D

Ps. Just edited to add.....as I have said before I am a bit of a technophobic dinosaur and came late to the "internet party". However, I have learned that the Internet is a fantastic resource and a wonderful tool. You can learn anything - money management, DIY, languages - anything. And, apart from your subscription to get online, it's all free for the taking.

My next step in my game plan is to see how I can use it to make me more money. I want to have a couple of online businesses or income generators so that's my next goal.

As I said - late to the party as always - but I'm sure with a bit of patience and some input from my boys I will manage to get something up and running.

Glad everything is going well for you LL :) I noticed you on the shopping thread as I started that to - we are planning on trying Aidi for the first time. (First time doing a weeks shop their) The prices are great from what I've seen as we nipped in for some nappies and butter.

Just super busy over here it's exhausting, nearly shut my eBay down but it was only down for a week a couple weeks ago and I keep thinking of all the money I will be missing out.

Promised my Bride I'd get her photos out tomorrow (it's been 3 and half weeks which is longest I've ever taken, but given I was on holiday and had the flu in that time..) but Mum has the kids so will just be spending the day at my laptop. Working on them ATM but popped on.

Also did a wedding last weekend which was lovely, so have that one to get on with to. Then a wedding at the end of June...you can see we are coming into wedding season.

Also got a big ish order to get out tomorrow for my eBay....sigh. Right back to work lol. Tomorrow I'm bringing my husband's tv down so I can edit and watch Big bang theory lol.
People don't know what they want until you show them.

    Hi all,
    love this thread, motivating stuff!

searched far and wide on the internet for ways to make mega-bucks but still haven't struck gold yet! I think starting a drop-shipping business seems like the strongest way forward really, there are supposed to be some pretty lucrative profit margins buying stuff on amazon and selling it for more on eBay, does anyone have any experience with this? Lots of complicated stuff such as finding a wholesale supplier and whatnot.

for anyone interested or in the know, I found a pretty good spot that deals with matched betting and managed to get a solid 490 quid in two weeks of piddling about with their software, gonna try and beat that score when i get enough free time to give it a real good bash! would recommend this matched betting business though, easy moolah so far (not allowed to post links just yet being new to the forum but give me a message if you want)

anyone else have any ways to make some extra money on the side? I too fancy getting that first Big M ;) oh the things i'd do..

I'm all for that site, but you are not allowed to post links. I'd remove it quick before someone one the forum team spots it and penalises you.

thats why it's not a good idea to quote links that break the rules, as even when the link is removed it remains in the quote :shhh:

    Good morning everyone.

    How are we all ........

Well as you can see from my signature I am trying to keep to my challenges but with only mediocre results so far. :rotfl:

Hey ho........just go to keep ploughing on. I will probably spend an arm and a leg on DIY materials and garden stuff this month too. Double whammy.

On the plus side I have a small win of £25 to add to this months totals (not included in my sig yet until I've banked it).

    Every little helps.......
