Right ...sorry posting all time ATM. Had some spare time today so sat down with my Black hole focus book again, had to admit he lost me in two chapters as what he was asking me to do seemed quite...hard shall we say although what he was saying made sense I just didn't know how to apply it.
Anyway, the next few were all about setting goals..I would normally role my eyes at these millionaires who are "Write your goals down!!".. review them all the time etc...but he doesn't just say write a list of goals he pushs you to think about things in a new way so when you write your list it's got a lot of meaning to it. Hard to explain but wanted to share my list with you.
Please realise these goals are quite personal to me so I have to admit they are a bit random
To be healthy in mind and body, to have the energy to do physical labour
To have a happy home with happy kids and husband, with a decent garden for the children to play and a kitchen that has decent space for equipment to cook without the need to compromise.
To run a successful profitable business with staff
To become a landlord with at least 10 property's that have the mortgage paid off
To become financially independent that we can take holidays etc without worrying.
Then we start breaking it down into smaller goals of how to achieve the results..
- Go out for a run twice a week or do the app.
- Make time for family, put effort in with husband. Re house...look to move next year, start a savings plan and use business profits to stockpile cash.
- Push sales, start by getting admin side sorted by turning into a partnership and looking to improve listings to make it more of a business...start with the image..add new product lines
- Long term goal, once settled in the new house start saving plan for house dep on a B2L , use business funds when spare but for now focus on building business so later can plummet money into houses
- Get control of finances.
So....lets see how I get on lol.People don't know what they want until you show them.0 -
As for posting, Kaya, this is why its here
I like the goals thing. Putting the big goals in place so you know what you want, and then stepping down a level so that what you're doing in your present day life is helping you fulfil those big goals, rather than working against them, or even being neutral. And they don't sound random at all, they sound rounded - good for you :j
At the moment, I'm decluttering by scanning notes and throwing away the originals - I need to stop seeing clients face to face, I need to be more mobile when I stop doing that, and I need *access* to these notes, so scanning is the best solution. There's a lot, but I'm literally doing it *while* I'm on here, so not too bad time-wise.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

I do agree.
I can at times be a little lazy, but its my husbands energy which makes me shake my !!!!, then I am energised myself.
I used to get a bit frustrated with him, as he would say I want to be turning over X/ earning X/to get X busiess and when he was near to reaching he would be already planning on how to increase it.
I would say to him that he never appreciates what he has achieved (that's how I saw it), and he would always say he did, but once he completed that goal or was near to it he was thinking of the next, he is not fickle though he sees through the current/ongoing things.
Then one day I watched a speech about millionaires and their thought process etc, and the guy was saying they tend to act exactly as my husband does and it clicked in place.
So I now see he does appreciate what he has, but he is just looking how to move it forward or start on other things.0 -
Kayalana99 I love your goals!
I find it really helps to write goals/tasks down (I like crossing them off and love seeing them crossed off) , but they tend to be the smaller ones to get to the bigger ones, so I am going to try and write my big goals down too.
We have been looking at properties, we have had an offer accepted for a property for BTL.
So busy dealing with this at the moment.
I may learn how to multi quote one day...0 -
Hi folks
Just dropping by to say hello and welcome to Minxy & Black Dynamite. Always nice to see new millionaires in training.
Karma - sorry to hear about your problems with your French property - hope you manage to get things sorted.
Kay - I think your goals are great ... And achievable. I too think it's just as important to set personal goals as it is financial ones. I think they are both sides of the same coin, if we are happy in our personal lives then this will reflect in our professional nd business lives too.
I'm a great goal setter and list maker. I like to measure how far I have come and which direction I am heading in. I like to know if I'm still on track.
I don't have a lot of news at the moment. I'm just quietly plodding away. I'm meeting my savings targets and am doing ok with my earn an extra £5 a day challenge., so it's all good. I have viewed a few properties but nothing has made my heart race.
February has been emotionally difficult and my energy levels took a bit of a hammering. I've not felt like doing much, so I havent. ;)It would have been our 34th wedding anniversary and it was also the six month anniversary of OHs death. On 2nd March it would have been his birthday. It's been a bit of an emotional Tsunami but hopefully the worst is over now. I'm starting to feel human again.
Spring is round the corner, the days are getting lighter and brighter and I'm getting reAdy to rock....:D0 -
Hello LL
Thanks for the good wishes on the French property ... I'm taking it one step at a time now, the brinksmanship is as bad as the German-Greek negotiations, from the emails I'm reading
I can understand you feeling down with those anniversaries, I'm sure you're wise not to push yourself, this is very soon after the event, you can't bounce back from the death of a beloved husband just like that. Glad you're taking care of yourself.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Thanks - you are right. You cannot hurry the grieving process - you just have to work through it. Like anything in life you just have to learn to roll with the punches.
My sons have been a source of great comfort and support. I'm still living with DS2. We've had a couple of discussions about where we go from here and I think that, for the time being, I'm going to remain living with him for a while yet. He is single so I won't be playing gooseberry and he assures me that I'm not cramping his style.:rotfl:
and it suits us both financially.
I have been busy decluttering and getting organised, have worked my way through all the paperwork, OHs estate, all his old business accounts etc. it's been difficult but now everything is in order I do feel that a huge weight has been lifted from my shoulders and I'm now ready to move forward.
I'm still pretty tied up with my parents affairs. I attended a Continuing Health Care assessment for mum last Monday. It took over 3 hours and I felt drained afterwards. It's simple things like that which leave me feeling so exhausted. I also took dad to view another apartment because he hates where he is.
All these things take time. I don't mind doing them but it means I have even less time for making that £1m. :rotfl:I'm still trying to clear their cottage too, it's slow going.
Onwards and upwards.........0 -
Thats a good idea to continue living with one of your sons, and to review the situation regularly. You've been dealing with documenting your OH's past financial affairs as well as future physical and emotional needs for your parents, and as you say, with doing all of that you *can't* focus solely on the future and the millionairedom
You and your sons are working together, I think thats great. Me and my sister have a pretty good relationship like that: she has a French property too, though its not an investment for her, and she's gradually realising that even though she's on a very sound financial footing and isn't extravagant, she can learn from me financially. We're not pooling our resources yet, but if I can pull around my own affairs, we might well do.
For now, its decluttering so that I'm more mobile in the future when I'm solely working online, and looking at new income forms online, that pay out much sooner.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Afternoon,
It's great you living together is going well :-) You can only take each day as it comes.
I've had a bit of a kick up the butt so to speak as literally by chance I came across someone who is doing what I do, not sure if they are on eBay or not but they have 5000 likes on facebook and a website set up but the kicker is they were celebrating their first birthday. I've been running since Oct 13 so about 16 months and they are so ahead of me it's unreal, to be frank I have 3 main product lines and I do really well with 1 of them but they have about 30-40...they have the website up and running and they have more machinery to create a lot more then me.
I guess the difference is tho that I have two children under 3....she has children but they are of school age (facebook stalked sorry lol she posted a comment on her business over xmas which got me looking for her business page you have to check out the competition!) so she has a lot more time on her hands then me I would imagine... her OH also works full time but it sounds like he helps her out with it to.
Since I am trying to get my tax bill down I am searching for a way to get onto a new product line...this one seems to be a good seller as I see lots of people creating businesses out of just this line but I can just add it with my others and keep spreading out.
It's not easy as this isn't straight forward like my other products and will involve me being more hands on but if I can get the details sorted now I could spend the money to get the machine I would need to go with it and then focus on creating the products in my spare time.
A bit of good news is I brought myself a camera ...on the business ofc I couldn't justify spending £300 (wince) of personal but whilst I will most likey use it for personal use (shh) I do have a long term plan for it and in the short term I can improve my eBay listing pictures and make it look more professional. I honestly don't really have a clue how to use it properly yet I've managed to work out how to take pictures on auto...it's a professional one not really meant for beginners but have been told it's the perfect beginners one to start with...if that makes sense but I will spend time learning when I can but I think I may of found myself a hobby.
I don't really love doing anything so I am hoping this will be it...I just see people being big fans of H Potter or gardening etc and I'm just not that type of person I tend to like things and get bored but here's hoping as so far I'm just so happy with it and I've only taken like 10 photos lol. I have to admit I have thought about getting into photography in the past but never dabbled in it...and just encase any photographers read this thread don't worry I'm not going to start advertising my services as a wedding photographer as I know it's not that simple!!People don't know what they want until you show them.0
