Kayalana Greta news on hubby's job.i totally understand why your in a quandary over AAT or business.its not something that anyone else can give you the answer to either really.
I feel like I've not got any time at the moment.im doing quotes Monday nights, college tues night, quotes weds, thurs, taking kids to see nanas etc fri and weekend is playing catchup on quotes, bookings etc.
I've actually missed college tonight as I've had a bad neck today & wanted to fully rest ready for a busy day tomorrow.ive been asleep since 630 so must have needed it.problem is now I won't sleep tonight :-s
Feel a. Bit behind as well as I've not delivered some ironing & I've got 2 quotes to write up grrr.
Oh well off to cross something off my to do list
At least I now have my new admin lady who is fabulous!!!trainee millionaire (aka not there yet!)0 -
We will ALL make it
have a good week all XXXNevertheless she persisted.0 -
The first million is easy, the trouble is where do you go after that, had it lost it, got it again, learn't how to hold on to it now where 2m, 5m where ? we now think of providing for kids grandkids etc. I'm sure it was easier when we had 1 house and £2k in the bank, sure was simple.
Nowadays never got any cash to spend, always needing to invest it.0 -
I'm delurking for a moment to ask how everyone's weekend is?

Well I sold something on ebay I got free with a mag subscription (one you cancel after the trial). After fees, £11.60 profit :j. Just worked out I only need another 86,207 to make a million
.
It's a plan :T. Not a very good one admittedly, but still a plan :rotfl:.A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

Inspiration can be such a shy creature sometimes, conspicuous by its absence.
Sadly nothing exciting this end, at least not this weekend.
My weekend has been one of utter frustration and I'm feeling thoroughly cheesed off. :rotfl: Have viewed a couple of houses - just overpriced dross.
Never mind tomorrow is another day. Maybe I need a back up plan, this house hunting malarky is taking up far too much time.
Anyway, this week I shall be chasing some money that is owed me - a refund of nursing home fees. Social Services were quick enough to take my money - however they are really dragging their heels with my refund. Why am I not surprised. :rotfl: Cheeky beggars - they owe me at least £2k. I also need to review my savings and try and get some better interest rates.
I shall also continue my decluttering, not much of any real value left to sell now - just a stack of DVD's and CDs. Don't suppose there's much money in them - still better than nothing.
I have some vintage bits and pieces, mainly quilts and linen so I might try ebay again, although I've not had much luck with ebay of late.
Kayalana - great news on hubby's job.
Feeling shattered today so going to take it easy now, a nice simple dinner, then over to see OH and veg out with Downton Abbey.
Have a good week. Hope you all make some money.0 -
Thanks, not much to update here really. Sold 7 of my items (8 if you count the unpaid international one when I didn't have international listed -.-) so far...Thats in less then a week. Not that many really I guess but its a start.
Part of me thinks I could really make money out of this but the other part doesn't want to get my hopes up....practically sitting by my iphone waiting for it to tell me I've sold one lol.
Turns out that half my profit went on postage as well as I thought I could post them at a letter (60p) but turns out if they are over 5mm depth they have to go as LL (90p) and turns out they are 6mm!! Oh well. If I sell more then one to same person which is likey because of type of item it works out pretty good. Otherwise its 20p profit on a single item lol
Hope everyone is saving for xmas :-)People don't know what they want until you show them.0 -
Good Evening All
Well it's been a right mixed bag here today - a real roller coaster.
The bad news.
Received a real body blow today. My dad's lung cancer has returned, together with a further tumour in his throat. Poor darling. At aged 87 the prognosis will not be good.
Even though I realised he was seriously ill long before anyone else in the family suspected anything was amiss the actual confirmation is still an unwelcome shock.
That's 3 members of my family, mother, father and husband, all more or less terminally ill. Mum and OH are both in nursing homes. We'll try and keep Dad at home as long as we can.
I know it sounds strange but this latest blow just makes me more determined than ever to work hard and make enough money to see myself into a financially secure old age and to help set my sons on the road to financial stability.
I know money doesn't guarantee health or a long life but it can help ensure a decent quality of life and good care when you need it most.
The good news.
Managed to get hold of Social Services who have admitted that a cheque has been raised and despatched in respect of nursing home fees refund. Problem is they sent it to the wrong address:rotfl: and it has now gone awol. They have promised to reissue said cheque.
The second piece of good news.
We've had an offer accepted on a cheap little "fixer upper", a small terraced house in what appears to be a regeneration area of the city. It looks generally well-loved just a little tired and old fashioned. Fingers crossed it surveys ok and that all it needs is a light touch.
So a day of two halves.......
I've also started a bit of a money sort out. I'm afraid the last few months have been a tad expensive with one thing and another so it was time to sit down and go through the books again and see what savings I can make.
Given that I am going to have no time for extra money making activities such as antique fairs etc cutting costs is going to be crucial over the next few months. So it's back to some serious budgeting.
I have cancelled my OH's broadband and telephone connection. He can no longer use a computer or telephone and I have broadband etc here at the bungalow so it seemed pointless paying for two lots. Because he struggles so much with his TV remote control he had inadvertently ordered 4 films which I have had to pay for. I've had to lock it so this can't happen again. You have to smile really, his illness does sometimes have it's lighter moments.....
Anyway given that my "nursing" duties are now going to include 3 people, I cannot see how I am going to find much time for anything else other than "light touch project management" of our reno projects. I am going to be very stretched.
I have discussed this with a close friend who is a builder. He is currently overseas but returns home in a couple of weeks. He is "semi-retired" and basically just project manages these days. He has very kindly offered me his time and expertise in getting good trades people and sourcing materials at good prices. He is a gem.
When times are tough it's nice to know that you have good friends and family to help.
Mine are worth their weight in gold.0 -
So sorry to hear that about your dad, LL. Such awful news. You and your family are really being put through the wringer, aren't you? I hope that your dad, mum and OH are all comfortable and take comfort in your love and care. I have to say I truly admire your positivity and I know that will help you to get through the hard times.
I've been looking into a course that will allow me to retrain and I'm currently wondering how I'm going to finance it. I don't like the idea of a loan so I'm going to have to save up and just throw everything I can into my savings.
Hope everyone is doing well.0
