  • LL I love the idea of a courtyard setting with the 3 buildings around it :-) sounds idyllic. Well, apart from the money pit part haha. We are doing ok with our new money rules and I've been making sure I go to my bootcamp/boxing to have some me time & build up energy levels.

Quite a scary few weeks as we have just signed up for 2 new vehicles.they cost the same as husbands current van alone so his current van going back which means its only insurance that changes but still quite scary as it means I now have to bring in more revenue.

Also just taken on 2 more members of staff.again scary as I now need to cover their wages but 1 of them is for marketing, admin etc so is already working on bringing money in and doing a fab job of it too.

Wow Tink - extra vehicles and extra staff - sounds like your enterprise is really growing and expanding now.....Great stuff. Good that the marketing person is proving so good. Apparently, when asked what he would spend his last dollar on, Bill Gates' answer was - "Marketing".

Not much money making here I'm afraid - still seem to be spending rather than earning. Trying to stick to really tight budgets for the reno works so am shopping and sourcing materials etc with extra care.

Today I picked up an amazing little sofa for £45 from my favourite charity shop which sells furniture and household goods. It looks almost new. I shall use it for my bungalow for now and then it will be perfect for DS1's property at a later date.

The next couple of weeks will see me upcycling several pieces that I have stockpiled.

Now that I am now settled into my new abode I now have a bit of time so I am also aiming to finally get round to doing a couple of construction courses - "trowel trades", ie basic plastering, tiling, brickwork repairs etc. I can then pass these skills and knowledge onto the boys and let them loose. And of course I need to get the sewing machine out for all those upholstery and soft furnishing projects.

No rest for the wicked.:rotfl: Still the more work we can do ourselves the more money we can save and the more profit we can make on our projects.

    Hope you are doing well.

Going well: I'm beginning to change habits. I love scouring charity shops. Now not an expensive addiction but when driving the other day I asked myself what will fulfil your current goals? Buying stuff for the charity shop or working on clearing stuff for my October declutter target? The latter won. So I'm going to do this very basic checking in with myself more often. That's not to say that doing stuff like the cinema is banned or restricted. But just the mindless spending.

Not so well: we've eaten too many takeaways this week. Need to do some bulk cooking to get out of this habit quickly. Making some cottage pies later, so that's a start. I'm not paying enough attention to a key money making plan.

So the plan is to knuckle down. Keeping asking if either the time or money I'm spending on is an activity that's helping me reach my goals.
:) Declutter 300 things in December challenge, 9/300. Clear the living room. Re-organize storage
:cool2: Cherryprint: "More stuff = more stuff to tidy up!"
Less things. Less stuff. More life.

  • dropping by to say my 100 pound on zopa has made me 7.25, 1.06 on fees. so about 6 quid.

I think after Christmas I will invest some more.

  • Mineallmine I'm terrible with takeaways so this weekend having had none, I'm putting £20 into savings, despite not really having it spare.i usually would spend £20 on a. Takeaway even if I didn't really have it so figure it's just the same.
Last Sunday I set myself the goal of making sure I have breakfast every day and I go training twice. I've had porridge every day and been training 3 times and am going in they morning.don't worry I'm not totally bonkers...an hours training means one big old English breakfast after

LL great news on the sofa, I love charity shops.especially near us they get some fab donations from wealthy people.

I think my goals for next week will be keep up last weeks goals and also make sure I'm home by 5 at least one night.

  • £350 out for the MOT and service...not all bad considering it came out of savings. Still a long long way to go before i am a serious contender for Millionaire status but heading in right direction....as of next Friday balance of savings from year will be at £12,000 with aim for year being £15k will have to step it up for that home run. Next year i wont need to decorate furnish a home as i did it all this year so will be hopeful of saving more than £20k if i stick at current job and keep working hard. LL you are a leader of the people on this thread, your posts can be used for motivation when times are hard, you seem to know what your doing !! Sorry for any dodgy spelling or grammar im on iphone and not easiest to type out a message. Keep going folks, one of us will make it!!

Wow - YBM - £15K in savings this year. Fantastic!!! - Especially as you have been busy decorating etc. We all know how a refurb /redecoration can run away with money.

Well this week I made an executive decision - decided to pull out of purchasing my sister's property. There were just too many issues involved, and as much as I like the house, it has to be a business decision. After looking again very closely at the figures there would have been very little profit in it for me. She's fine with my decision, she understands that I need to focus on making some money.

The next two or three houses simply have to be money spinners so it's back to square one and more house viewings this weekend.

We have incurred some costs, surveys, search fees etc but the way I see it - it's better to lose £1k this year than lose £10K profit next year when we come to resell.

I understand about the takeaways. It's very tempting sometimes when you are shattered and the last thing you feel like doing is cooking. We all know we should be organised and have stuff in the freezer, sometimes it's easier said than done. As long as you are not having takeaways every night .........:D

My little "naughty" is this. When I really can't be bothered then rather than a takeaway which might cost around £20 or so then I buy one of those "bung in the oven meal deals" from either M&S or the supermarket. Generally you get a main, a dessert, and a side dish plus a bottle of wine for around £10. A bit cheaper than a takeaway and of course the bottle of wine is "free".

I do try to keep one or two easy or ready meals in the fridge or freezer though for those rushed cba days.

I'm glad that some of you find my posts motivational - but tbh it's a two way street. I find your posts have the same effect on me. ;)

I get down days too........in fact I've had a few this week.

Hey ho - it happens. I allow myself a little sulk and a bit of time out with a book or a film, or just a quiet day pottering about whilst I recharge my batteries. Before I know it I'm up again. :rotfl:

We just have to keep our eyes on the prize. ;)

:D Just thought I'd check in....

Finding it really hard to juggle my time atm...last time I think I posted I said I seperated my front room off so my newborn was in one half and my 13month was in the other so I could work freely with 13month totting round the front room...well that plan didn't work for very long as he has now learnt how to climb over the sofa ... and tries to go head first down... -.- Newborn is lovely but doesn't sleep in the day (at least he does at night!) but means I am constantly at their beck and call lol as mothers should be I guess!!

Thing is I have a new business venture as I said before, and their are so many options with it...without saying what it is my machine allows me to create a product I add artwork to so I can create one product or 1000 products whilst still selling the 1st product I made as I can just re print the artwork which is the main job...then I can buy more machines to make dif sizes and then I can venture out in other products...I am considering writing a business plan and looking for investment as I can't afford to go any futher atm..but saying that my machine that I have is more then enough to keep me busy !!! (But I think this could actally bring me in a full time income if I put the effort in to start with setting up the products...ugh)

Thing is I am at a cross road..with little time I want to be working on my business, but I only have a years maternity leave and I want to be doing my AAT course so that I can get a better job....so do I put my business or my education first? My business makes me money now but my AAT course will set me for life job wise...but do I want to be working for someone else? Yet my AAT course would be good for my business as its learning how to set my accounts up properly....

Sorry to ramble but you see what I mean?! lol

Don't know if I mentioned it on this thread but found out today my partner got a new job...not more money but he is fully flexible at his current and this is M-F 7-5 so he'll be here in the evenings :-)
