hiya, thanks for that. I will do this when i get home tonight.
I rarely use Internet explorer which is why I never update it and I mainly use google chrome.

the consumer input thing is from consumer pulse which I enter weekly purchases of clothes, games, books and cinema visits on. The consumer input is where you get extra points when searching on internet explorer but as I said I rarely use it but its nice to top up a few points to bulk up now and then. I make quite a lot of money from consumer pulse so reluctant to unitstall if it is not doing to much damage. I get paid for it to snoop I guess!

thanks, removed quite a few bits from start up, all mentioned above.
seems much quicker on start up now!
  • are you leaving the laptop on your bed or on a surface where the fans cant get any air? chances are its overheating and shutting itself off.

its on a wooden fold down table but I always have it half off to allow the underneath to cool down a bit at the moment.
The power socket area and the area around it which is where I presume the chips are, is always hot.

Sometimes I take the power cable out which sometimes helps but not by much,
