A Peugeot 106 1.5 diesel or something along those lines I'd imagine. :)

  • That'll get you some spark plugs and maybe a couple of tyres..

theres no need to be rude...not everyone has enough for expensive cars and this is moneysavingexpert so I was hoping I could be pointed in the right direction for a cheap car that will save me money

  • I was kidding.Seriously though most cars around that sort of money are going to be money pits, best to save up a bit more.

Those diesel 106s appear to have a pretty good reputation. Apparently the engines are nice and basic without turbos and other accoutrements that are liable to go wrong and they sip fuel. :)

I would buy a Nissan Micra at that price. I think it's more roomy than a 106 (certainly in the front) and has a great wee engine, and I would trust the Jap reliability over French. Make sure you know the cost of running a car - if you've only got £600 to buy the car, I hope you've budgeted for insurance and tax too? Micra may be cheaper to insure due to smaller engine size.
