A related question: If you have bought Microsoft Office and installed it on your computer, then you buy a new computer and scrap the old one, can you re-install it on the new one, or do you have to buy a new pack? i.e. Can you transfer your licence from one machine to another one, or doesn't it work like that?
I paid £99 for a 3-user pack, and they are now all installed, but the way I get through computers I'd like to know!I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe

Of course you can for a single user license. One license per installation.0

Open Office is a pretty decent free package.
I'd imagine there are places on the internet where one could download an illegal copy of Word if one was so inclined.:cool:0 -
as suggested above, if you need word and don't want to pay for it, just get a hotmail account and use it for free online, the functionality is enough for most users.0

Thanks to those that helped, I've opted for the hotmail thingy!Playing with my money is like playing with my emotions!:cool:0

Oracle have announced that they are to cease any further development of OpenOffice, so recommending it instead of LibreOffice seems pointless.0

re: OpenOffice/LibreOffice, the situation is far from clear at the moment. It seems the PAID version of OO from Oracle will be stopped but free OpenOffice will continue, as will development. Possibly the two will merge in due course. At the moment OpenOffice is available, works fine, will continue to work fine, and is a much smaller download than LibreOffice. Excellent alternative for Word.0
