All jokes aside "Asda has slashed 1p per litre off the price of unleaded" does sound a bit ridiculous. :)

I'm guessing that the "Asda has slashed 1p per litre off the price of unleaded" bit was in irony

I think you're guessing wrong. That's not how the article reads.

Haven't seen any reductions yet, in fact a couple of petrol stations I drive past have raised the price by 2p since oil prices dropped. Oil prices seem to be on the way back up through so by the time the price cuts would eventually filter through there probably won't be any as oil will be over $120 a barrel again.

:jI agree that 'slashed' 1p off petrol is a poor use of the word. I should like to see the 'buy one - get one free' at the petrol pumps!

Probably, it was the only serious way I could interpret it...

My Asda have slashed ;) 1.2p off petrol and 4.2p off diesel. Very strange seeing 134.7 and 135.7 on the boards. One small garage is charging 139.1p. Is this the end of the .9p.
  • Tesco in Norwich have cut diesel to 139.9p - and they offer 5p perlitre off for £50. purchases. However Asda also in Norwich have cut their Diesel to 135.7 and there is a further penny off at the pump for Asda Credit Card users. Cant see any point in spending £50. at Tesco.....
