I've taken over control of mob phone finances, as my husband is abroad, and in 8 days he has received 26 texts from the above number @ 25p each - I reckon over the month it's costing £25!! He says he hasn't received that many, and they are 'notifications.'

Can these be stopped? It's a b*****dy cheek being charged to receive unsolicited sms!

I think that number you have quoted is used to get an account balance from Virgin Mobile. Is your husband being charged as he is sending the request for this from overseas? (ie normal text charge)

No, he says he has sent no requests, they are unsolicited, but yes it is Virgin

I don't know for sure - so pure speculation - but does the phone 'call out' for a balance update after each call is made? As I said - purely speculative...
