They have been dishonest in saying that it would take a week to get the car, then another week. Why don't they just say they don't know ? Obviously when they try to sell you a car they are dishonest if they say 'it will be here next Tuesday'. I don't believe that I am alone in my car taking longer than they said. Would I rather have paid more for the car ? It depends how much. If it was a reasonable amount, yes because I would have use of the car from the date of registration. Clairvoyant ? no but as I said before, if I'm wrong and it arrives this week I will admit I was wrong. Don't I have their phone no ? Yes, that is why I said there is no communication from them I AM THE ONE WHO HAS TO CALL.

    They have been dishonest in
saying that it would take a week to get the car, then another week.

To assume dishonesty, you have to also assume they have lied. All you have shown is that their estimated delivery date was hindered by a hold up at customs. How can they have pre-empted that?
Why don't they just say they don't know ?

Because the information they had told them that the car would have been delivered last week. But things change, customs decided to delay the release. That can be for a number of different reasons, it could be that they don't have enough staff; there could have been more than expected imports, at the port of entry that day; there could have been something wrong with the car's paper work; the certificate of conformity might have gone missing or they had no reason at all, other than the customs officer might have been having a bad day and is taking out on the cars. But, there is nothing to suggest that you have been lied to.
Obviously when they try to sell you a car they are dishonest if they say 'it will be here next Tuesday'.

Not if the manufacturer tells them that it will be delivered next Tuesday. They are simply passing on the same information to you. What proof do you have that they are lying?
I don't believe that I am alone in my car taking longer than they said.

    Really; how would know that?
Would I rather have paid more for the car ? It depends how much. If it was a reasonable amount, yes because I would have use of the car from the date of registration.

But you will still not have a car until this week and have to pay hundreds more. Why don't you tell the dealer that you want to pay more money and get them to register another car for you.
Clairvoyant ? no but as I said before,....

Hmmm.....and yet you seem to think that you are not alone in your car taking longer.
....if I'm wrong and it arrives this week I will admit I was wrong. Don't I have their phone no ? Yes, that is why I said there is no communication from them I AM THE ONE WHO HAS TO CALL.

Well, did you call them? When will your car be ready?

ok, what a lot of questions spiderman. I have rung again and as I 'predicted' it has not arrived yet. It has been delayed on the transporter. Not sure what that means. I know and accept that things can go wrong or get delayed but it just worries me a bit that I am the registered owner but I don't know where the car is. Remember, I don't buy a car every day, my current one is seven years old so it is quite a big thing to me. How I know that I am not the only one hanging on for delivery of a new car, well google. Thanks for taking the time to reply and I promise if it miraculously turns up this week I will come back and let everyone know.

Yes you do, the dealer told you where the car is.

Are seriously trying to make us believe that google told you that you are not the only one waiting for a car from that dealer?

No I don't know where it is other than in transit. Google does have lots of examples yes, but just search on this forum for a thread entitled 'Vauxhall new car delivery times' 11/5/2010 and I think you will see lots of people who have been kept waiting and given excuses, so I'm not the only one.

    From the same dealer?

  • The complaints are about Vauxhall in particular but other manufacturers too. Yes, I know I said manufacturers but in general the complaints are about dealers giving delivery dates and then changing them. My point is I don't think the system is geared towards good customer service. I think we will just have to agree to disagree.
