Well done AP for taking action. You've made a start. 2007 is where you start working your way out of debt - who cares if it takes a long time, provided you're making steps in the right direction. All the best:)Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MoneySavingExpert Forum Team0

We can do it.0 -
Hi,
Glad things seem to be moving along for you.
I know its easy to say, but dont worry - now that CCCS is involved things will get easier.
Your creditors will accept a DMP from them - they are not stupid, and will realise that this is their best option for getting their money.
The CCCS are very respected - it will work out, honest.
Once things are up and running, take the next two years to relax and get your life back on track - pay your DMP and start smiling again!
Then after that, you said your expecting a wopping £500 extra to spend on the debts - that sort of money will smash those in no time!!!!!
I know the road you are on is not a smooth one, but keep reading this board and posting - you'll soon find that any problems you have, someone here has had them already, and a solution awaits.
All the very best

Well done for facing up to your problems and finding the courage to take your head out of the sand.
I'm not judging you, each life belongs to its owner and the decisions thereof, but over the next couple of months perhaps you should consider the pros and cons of telling your partner. If he should find out by accident I think that the fallout would be a lot worse as he might feel deceived.0 -
Congratulations
I have absolutely no experience of CCCS or Payplan, I only know of them by reading this forum. I've learnt that when you're not paying them, creditors seem to get a bit pi**ed off
but as soon as you inform them that you're on a DMP with a respected organisation, they want to be your best friend.
Now that you've got the ball rolling you do need to speak to your OH. I know he'll flip out but you have to remember that you have made a start on things and it's better than ignoring it. He will soon calm down, but I do appreciate that finding out about big debts is a shock.
Don't feel down anymore. Just think of all those times you've seen films about alcoholics where they get a round of applause for admitting they have a problem, debt is just the same and you have a problem. The fact is that you know you have a problem and you are sorting it out so be pleased with yourself. Wouldn't you rather see your debts reducing than hide behind the sofa whenever there's a knock on the door?
Well done chick, you're a star :A0 -
congratulations on making a start. CCCS will deal with stuff pretty quickly in my experience i.e. the quicker you get back to them with your stuff the quicker your DMP will start. I havent had to deal with anyone face to face did my DMP on the internet filled in forms they sent and have telephoned them with queries. the first time i phoned i was in tears as felt so ashamed but they are so good and since then I have felt much more able to deal with things and am no longer a frightened rabbit caught in the headlights! My DMP will run for 9 years which sounds like forever but has got to be better than piling on more debt and never being debt free.I wish you luck with your journey, I am intending to tell my OH when I've made a few payments ( only made january's so far) so that he can see I am doing something about it, dont know what his reaction will be and Im rather scared but nowhere near as scared as I was before I did something about it all. Good luck xx0

Total 2030
THIS SHOULD LEAVE OVER 600 QUID in your pot every month to pay debts off with. find this by starting a spend diary, and of course OH needs to knoiw whats in budget & what isnt? DOez he have a car, theres nothing for presents/ dental / prscriptions/ car maintainence MOT)
I do suggest you come clean to him, as I said before you both have debts, so Id bring them out and get them tackled.
If you have 600 spare then you can clear this debt fairly easily, but you need Hubby on board. I knonow its not easy, but maybe it will bring you closer together? harbouring secrets like this & hiding correspondence etc, hiding from the phone- I just couldnt do it, and it sounds like you are struggling with it as well.
Do let us know how you are going on
Lynz

So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
