Recording a phonecall without the other party knowing? Naughty naughty.
:cool:0 -

Exactly. And the only reason for disabling the beep sound is intention to do this secretly.0

Pardon me? I must have missed the part of my post where I said it was illegal - seems to me I made no judgement on the legality or illegality of the whole enterprise. Just that I thought it was naughty.KillerWatt wrote: »Read the Telecommunications Act, it isn't illegal to record a personal call and not tell the other person.

If the other part knows this (i.e. this is legal) why is in 'naughty' then?
[STRIKE]IMO[/STRIKE], in this context 'naughty' is a synonym of 'illegal'0 -

OK.
I accept the challenge and remove 'IMO'.
The new statement is: In this context 'naughty' is a synonym of 'illegal'.
There are only two possibilities:- All parties know about recording. Recording is legal. Do you call this 'naughty'? No.
- One party records the call without informing the other party(s). This is illegal. You call this 'naughty'.
The ball is on your side. You prove me wrong.
The only way to do this is to answer 'Yes' to the question. :think:0 -
Not this again. I record some phone calls - mainly when I complain to companies - and you DO NOT need to tell them as long as the recording is for yours or there own use. Secondly, if it involves a criminal matter (e.g. you are being harassed) you can record for proof.
Also you could use the recording to aid your memory when taking notes (I.e. verbatim), which can be used in court.
They are lots of examples when you may want to record, e.g. if you record a complaint to a company and then they deny they said such and such... send them the recording. Also, I have friends who are journalists, and they often do telephone interviews (they obviously say they are recording) when on the move.
You can record, but need to use another app. I can only record on my old Symbian60 phone, and just move sim cards when I need to record.0
