Have to have a credit card to use Ebay

I have mine set to reject buyers without a credit card. I sell some high end stuff and only want to deal with financially sound buyers. For me, anyone without a credit card in the 21st century is hiding a problem. The few people I know who don't have one don't trust themselves to have one, or don't fit the criteria.0

If your still blocked - then you've just fallen foul of ebays determination to upset as many Ebayers as it can in one year. I think they are trying for the record.
Better to upset a miniscule amount of buyers rather than all the sellers who sell scammable items and want a little bit of protection against a certain section of buyers.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. [QUOTE=soolin
Sellers tend to put that restriction on if they attract a lot of sammers or have a buyer stalking them using different IDs[/QUOTE]

...Or are older people who don't feel comfortable with credit cards? Seems a bizarre thing.0 -
Or thost that won't give their cc details to ebay.0

What's the point of having a credit card if you won't give the details out? What does it get used for?
And who are these old folk happily surfing the net but terrified of credit cards?0 -

This verifies you are over 18. You cannot have a credit card if you are under 18, hence this is the only way Ebay can verify age on certain items.
You guys have likely hit the nail on the head as I was trying to buy knives. two sets of whinnie the pooh kids cutlery to be exact :rotfl:
I guess I got a bit melodramatic but I was quickly put under the impression that it was a blanket requirement to continue using my account. As Oliver14 said, Ebay help probably didn't realise or forgot to point out this was an isolated incident due to the nature of the Item.I have mine set to reject buyers without a credit card. I understand what you are saying but there was a time when you couldn't get more financially sound than a cash buyer!
In online commerce though I guess it's about protection for both the seller and buyer. Here it seems credit cards have the upper hand. but then they can afford to.0 -

.
It may sound silly but it's true! The seller will know nothing of your attempt purchase, in the past i have emailed and they have listed such an item as a new listing.....item reserved for theonlywayisup.....and in the text....item 1234 as listed. I am happy, seller is happy and no laws are broken, unless you are going to run a mock in the high street with winnie the pooh cutlery?0
