Store cupboard prices gripe

Tesco have bags of apples for 33p at the moment. Another idea is to keep a diary of prices in Tesco and Lidl so you can compare when you're out.“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0

lidl veg isn't always as cheap as you think though.
recently it's all been half price which has been a real bargin, but i went on Sunday and it wasn't half price anymore.
a pack of closed cup mushrooms was 72p and i know they're 58p in tesco/asda.0 -
not in my tescos they are around 78p :-( so i buy larger value packs at 1.18
I'm also wondering if the increases are local or nationwide.
Praps we should write to Mr.T copying letter to press and trading standards asking how they can justify in most cases 50 % upwards increase. Most cases more.0 -
I to was saying this to my neighbour, i used to shop for £30 to £40 a week now it seems to be £80 in tescos big difference.0

It would get worse if the supermarkets were not allowed to sell loss leaders which some pressure groups want to happen.
The basics will rise even more and some people will struggle a lot more than they already do now.0 -
I notice the kmore non food goods they get in and slash the prices on, the more the food prices creep up, esp the value and own brands. I dounbt it is a coincidence.budget meals can be good meals0

i forgot to comment on the price of bread earlier, i can't believe that most bread is now nearly £1.00 a loaf (luckily for me i'm on the slimfast diet so i don't buy it), but who would have thought a couple of years ago that we'd be paying so much for it. I've decided to go to Tesco's tomorrow and the market on friday to see if i can pick up some cheap fruit, thanks for your help in where to get it cheap (really need it fill me up lol).

I too noticed this great big hike and put it down to more expensive fish prices. Then I looked at the pack of 30 which is now only 69p (I last remember paying 23p) so the price is the same but only in a bigger bag:mad: Then.. I looked in Sainsburys and they are still selling 10 fish fingers for 23p:j guess where I am buying them from?True wealth lies in contentment - not cash. Dollydaydream 20060 -
The cost of fish is going to go up though. They have cut the quotas (again) of cod, haddock, herring and other fish that European fishermen are allowed to bring in in 2007. This means the costs will go up. Its meant to help preserve fish stocks, so our grandkids don't say "Nanna, what was it like to eat fish, what did it look like?"0
