We used to use L & C when we were changing mortgages a long time before I found this site, they were always very good for us and I know other people who have used them on our recommendation and they have been happy with their advice etc.

Plus the comment that they are one of the top brokers. There is no comment on what is meant by top. A small broker in the middle of nowhere could be top on something. It gives the impression that those 4 are being endorsed as the ones you should use.

Agreed DH. Top of what? There are plenty of Top 100 IFAs surveys and they are usually done using turnover or staff numbers, which has got nothing to do with quality of advice or service.

I would add though that my company is the top IFA in our building:D

This isnt a thread about the quality of L&C. There is no need to promote them any further on this thread.

It is whether the article is being taken that people should use L&C and why posts that mention other brokers get deleted when posts about L&C do not. Therefore suggesting a bias towards L&C.

Usually an indication of staying away from a firm because it is too big and operates like a salesforce and not a "top" quality service provider.

That's not what it says, see above.
and why posts that mention other brokers get deleted when posts about L&C do not.

I wasn't aware of this, could we have some further explanation?

Youy are correct, the article is only a small part of the site... and its the site not the article nor Martin's view's that I was asking people to vote on.

The original post gives a link - which is an example of L&C links being placed and others being deleted

at least 2 posts were deleted ( I have pasted copies)

    1. A post quoting the actual article

abso... bloody... lutely in there you will find a great tip...

In the Chat Forum’s Mortgage Board some mortgage brokers voluntarily answer questions - it's an easy non-committal start option. Many are fees free whole of market mortgage brokers, so if they do help you, there is no reason not to process your mortgage via them (always ask them the questions first). However, as always the golden rule is do seek more than one opinion before deciding.

that was made in reponse to post currently #13

    2. A post with some contact details of other brokers in repsonse to the now #14

Kenshaz I'm not posting for any gain, and just like you I have decided to post a link to a couple of advisers who might be able to help

I have personally checked them out to ensure they are regulated and have experience in this field ( rather than be based at a call centre)

Just like I assume you do not benefit from your link to a broker - I also make no personal gain from post the above links

The problem with the two links to the broker emails I'd have thought is that they appear to be an attempt to get around the the rule about advertising on the site.

For instance, let's say I ( or any other MSE poster not in the business) was impressed with your posts and decided to take your advice when I wanted a mortgage.

Having had a good experience with you, I then recommend you on MSE to other posters seeking advice.

    Would the recs remain?

I'd have thought they would, in that they are a recommendation by a satisfied user (no connection). As is the one above for L&C from nearlyrich.

Whereas your recommendations are not provided on that basis.

But I don't know why you guys all allow yourselves to get wound up by K. His posts are just irritating, why bother to respond? Just ignore them.

Although my post was in reply to someone who I believe has posted in the past that he has never used L&C - yet he posted a link to them?

Why was it possible advertising- what gain would I have - giving business to brokers who I have no connection with & have never met ? ... I made a comment as a forum user, that 2 certain brokers seemed to know what they were talking about in this circumstances of the user, and as such maybe should consider Martin's advice to follow up with them. ( only made post after a different broker's weblink was given )

If I wanted to advertise I would get a load of my clients to come on here and post recommendations!

As I originally posted ..this thread is not so much to discuss any particular thread or article ..rather the overall thought on the exposure/ recommendation on this site of an particular "commercial enterprise" - the likes of which does not seem to happen in any other sector ( financial or not)..

This is a consumer site ,it is not for the benefit of those who sell mortgages .If brokers wish to enjoy this site and post for pleasure not business ,they should remove their signatures and links to their websites which promote their business interests.I fail to understand how a group of individuals can dictate how this site should be run ,when the basic principles are to help the consumer ,that stance must be maintained against those who wish to make financial gain.
