Why don't you write formally to your landlord, complain that the smell is making you physically ill ad you're concerned about the effect the fumes might have on your uborn child. Tell him that that if he doesn't do something about it, you will issue an injunction through your solicitor forcing him to enforce the restrictive covenants on your property. It may need the threat of some legal action to get them doing something.0

I've managed to speak to one of the boys, he said that they didnt realise it was coming through the walls and they will smoke outside . . . . . will wait and see
Well thats something x I hope they follow through with it

And as a temporary measure, good old joss sticks are quite effective! Oddly enough I went out to the local shop last night, and my whole neighbourhood smelt of weed! It made me think of the closing scenes of "Saving Grace", where the whole village is high a a kite! I decidede that as the police have arrested and charged a perpetrator for the murder that we had here, the police presence has disappeared, and everyone who smokes it is opening their windows again!0

Can you really force a landlord to kick someone out of their own property?
The problem is that the police wont do anything for personal use, it simply isn't a big enough crime in their eyes. Hopefully they'll follow through with their promise of taking it outside and it'll help out.0 -
Call the police, and tell them you think they are dealing when having their chin wag. Definitely cannabis (because of the smell) but also pouches of white powder, whatever that is. And they've been selling illegal firearms to terrorists. (ok, may be not the last part. But you could certainly believe you thought you saw them handing drugs to friends on the landing in exchange for money. Suddenly it becomes a bit more serious for the police)
I don't think lying to the police is the way to go - you're suggesting quite a serious allegation and at the moment the OP has right on her side.
How do you think the smell is coming through the walls? Are there noticeable gaps or cracks where the smoke is coming in which you could seal (or ask them to seal from their side seeing as it sounds as though they are fairly agreeable). Unless this is one in a long list of issues you have with them then a practical and non-confrontational solution would seem to be the most appealing.0 -

Where is the lie? You saw a gang of people in a stair well, some quite clearly doing drugs. You in your honest opinion believe that in amongst the gang of drug takers, one or two may be dealing it. It's not your job to then go to court and prove it, you are simply making the police aware of a minor crime, and a potentially more serious crime.Current Debt: 0%.Current House Deposit: 7%.0 -
You rent from a housing association and your Human Rights to Adequate Housing may be being breached, if there is anything on this list then get the HA or Council involved and say that you'll be suing them ;o))))))
Not sure if any of it will work but it will send them into a flap............0 -
we had a similar problem few years back. wasn't just drugs , but also violance and dog poo. it was sheer hell. the neighbours smoked constantly. and it wasn't just them, but they would invite all their family up and sit in garden and smoke it for hour's. now in own home fine if they must. but we couldn't go in our garden for the smell. it was so bad.
i was so embassered when we had visitors as the smell outside was so strong. it was paranoid someone would think it was us. also the violence, the couple would scream and shout, break stuff, hit, kick etc. the kids would then start screaming ( aged 3 and 1) all while she was preg.
and the dog poo, they keps a dog tidyed up outside there back door, day and night rain, snow etc it had a concrete area about 10ft square to go round in circle in, the dog poo was everywhere, summer time, omg the smell and the flies and this was right by my front door. they would leaves bags of rubbish out front door, which foxes cats etc would split open and there would be poo filled nappies all over the path ( the path i have to cross to get out my door) and they refused to clear it up.
the housing officer was great, but nothing ever seemed to get done. he kepted meeting with them, they kept promising to make changes. for 1 day it be fine, then hell broke loose again. they gave them a contract thingy to say they have 12 months to sort it out etc. the council seemed to only be able to do so much and and it all seemed to be just talking with them and promises always getting broken.
in the end a local mp was contacted by another neighbour and he came round and saw it all for himself. the family was gone within 2 weeks. as a new property suddenly became avaible in an area closer the their families.0 -
