I do enjoy - bizarley - shopping at 5am on the the 20th[ish] to try and get it all done before the masses descend [which is stupid, because you have to wait until 8am to buy the booze ;)] cos despite it being insanley early, everyone still has the inane grin on because it's Christmas :rotfl:

I also quite enjoy a light lunch [like one of their <3 baguettes] at some point from the 18th [my brother's birthday] to 24th December at my local Wetherspoons sat around the coal fire on the gorgeous leather settees with the Christmas tree twinkling beside us and a pitcher of cocktail with my mum just talking.

I do like when all the doors have shut on Christmas Eve and everyone's gone home and my brothers over and the fire and light is on and.... yes. immediate family christmas = love.

That's really funny, my 20 year old daughter went crazy this year cos they didn't have the "Holidays are coming" song on, that's when Christmas starts for her! LOL!

 Yes! My 30 year old [acts and looks like a 12 year old, bless her ;)] best friend was going crazy because it wasn't the 'proper song' and had 'ruined her christmas' *chuckles* Had to pacify her by searching for the old one on youtube!

For me, Christmas begins with sherry, a mince pie and Carols from Kings on Christmas eve.

  • Oooo, I'm glad its not just me who went mad at the TV when the new Coca Cola advert came on, minus the appropriate song. :rotfl:

It begins for me when I leave work on my last day before Xmas, that's when I start to feel festive and excited. I come home, put all the Xmas lights on, listen to Xmas songs, and usually have a taboo & lemonade (not sure why but I always associate this with Xmas). Will have to find an alcohol free alternative this year though due to pregnancy! Any suggestions for a non-boozy festive drink?

Yesterday, someone posted that Christmas starts for them when the Christmas Radio Times comes out! I feel the same, but since I was a child I've always thought Christmas has started when Blue Peter have their last show. They light the lat candle in the Advent Crown, and sing carols round the tree. Forty years on, and it's still the same! :rotfl:
So come on guys, when does it REALLY start for you?

Yes, christmas radio times does it for me. I'll get my marker out and circle all that I fancy watching and then miss them anyway.

Do you remember when the radio times only had BBC & radio and you had to buy the tv times for ITV and C4?

I remember the Blue Peter advent crown in the late 80's/90's , surely they don't still do that?

Today I was so disappointed to find that the Christmas Radio Times wasn't for sale yet!

I'm starting to feel Christmassy now, but the weather really isn't helping - a frost would be nice! I suppose things will really start feeling like Christmas when I leave work on the 22nd knowing I've got 10 days off!!

We also think its christmas when the coca cola advert comes out!!!!! I dont like the new one as much as the 'holidays are coming' one with all the trucks tho (although there was a brief siteing of a truck on the new advert!!!)

Does anyone know when the new christmas telly books are due out????
  • I agree with what most of you are saying, but I don't feel really Christmassy (is there such a word?) until I go to church Christmas Eve. I can relax and think about the real reason for Christmas....

... and yes, I miss the old Coca Cola advert, too :xmassign:
