Burns have 20% off Duck & Brown Rice at the moment and free delivery if you spend more than £50. The code and details are their homepage. Usually £50 for 15kgs, brings it down to £40 for 15kgs.

    http://shop.burnspet.com/

I feed 2 staffies (one is 7 months old so eats a bit less) and a 15kg bag lasts 4 weeks so each dog is £20 a month to feed roughly. I ordered today it'll be here tomorrow. It's good stuff if anyone is interested. :D

If you have a look at Skinners duck and rice, the ingredients are identical to burns duck and rice . Yet Skinners duck and rice is £21 per 15kg bag. Not slating burns, decent food, just always thought it expensive given it's 60% rice.
    Skinners

Whole rice (40%), duck meat meal (20%), naked
oats, peas, whole linseed, sunflower oil, beet pulp,
    vitamins and minerals.
    Burns

Brown Rice (Min 65%), Duck Meal (Min 20%), Oats, Peas, Duck Fat, Sunflower Oil, Seaweed, Minerals & Vitamins

Thats for that info, not heard of skinners before.

Where is the other 25% Between Skinners and Burns (difference in rice content?) I mean, is it in the fats/oils or is it in the oats/peas?

Happy to give it a try if it is the same (why could you not have told me earlier I've just spent £100 with them!!). Do you have to feed the same qty. What do you give a for a 25kg dog feeding amount please.

I am staying out of the ethical side of it - although iof you think Nestle are ethical then I would google their reputation, none better than the other.

Sticking my oar in the debate on dog food though, blue monkey have you considered feeding raw food? I feed 7 dogs on chicken wings, turkley wing tips, for meat and then a rotation of yoghurt and veg with eggs, oatmeal and eggs, milk meal and fish and it saves me a fortune. It costs me less than £25 a week to feed all 7 and thats 3 working spaniels (avoiding the swear filter lol!) on HUGE akita and three shibas.

If you dont have the time or the storage space then there will be no slating from me - as far as I am concerned I would far rather see a dog in a loving home beiong fed biscuits - but its worth a thought :) Especially since 60% rice is a huge amount.

LOL. I imagine it'll just be a different ratio of peas and oats to burns,

I used to feed Skinners, ordered from vet UK, I'd get a bag of Duck and rice and a bag of salmon and rice (there other's aren't as good), so I'd get 2x15kg sacks delivered for about £40. If I remember correctly you feed 100g of burns for every 10kg of your dogs weight.

I'm a big fan of raw (even though I'm veggie), I got a freezer and started feeding raw, it is cheaper, and I loved that I knew EXACTLY where the meat had been and was coming from. Sadly it made my super laid back staffy MENTAL. Plus he had tummy probs on a full raw diet. Other dog was amazing on it as are lots of other dogs I know fed raw. But I couldn't afford to have them on two different diets, so now feed 50/50 raw and commercial food (not at the same time lol). Suits them both very well.

I'd agree raw is great, but not for every dog.

No one has said Nestle are ethical? Quite the opposite.

Rev & blue_monkey, was interested to read your thoughts about Burns & Skinners. I feed my dog Arden Grange, which he loves and seems to thrive on but I'm always interested to hear about others. Is Arden Grange comparable to Burns & Skinners or are they better?

Agree re IAMS BTW...wouldn't feed it to my dog if it was free.

I think they misunderstood, I did too on first reading. Think your wording could have been clearer.

IMO, Arden Grange is better than both Skinners and burns. Especially the lamb and rice. I personally think it's about the best mid budget food you can get.
One of my boys is rice intolerant so sadly I no longer feed it.

I feed Simpsons sensitive cereal free. It's £30 per bag, you only get 12kg instead of 15. But I wanted a grain free food with a decent meat content. Can't afford Orijen/Arcana prices. So I went with this.

Yeah I had a look at Orijen but decided it was out of my price range. I've just ordered some more Arden Grange Lamb & Rice, 15kg for £28.95 @ Seapets. Lasts my dog about 8 weeks so I reckon that's pretty good value.

Arden Grange have great customer service too, which you can't buy. Their nutritionist helped me out a lot when my dog had problems, even recommending foods from other companies to help try and settle him. Great company from my experience.

Berriewoods do an offer of 2 lamb and rice sacks for £52 delivered. Saves a few £ , but every penny counts lol.
