    Hello

remember my 8mth old having a cold for 3 very long weeks when he was 4wks old and we ended up with huge breastfeeding problems- different story and still exclusively breastfed until 6mth albeit off one breast!

Anyway under 3mths not alot you can do other than saline nose drops - dont be ripped off and but branded ones like tixylix or calpol versions ask behind the pharmacy counter they all sell them in a little white bottle and they cost 80p-£1 (much cheaper than £4 for ones in a pretty box) - GP will prescribe them but often not worth trip to doctors.

and propping the cot or moses basket up this is best done putting books under the top end of crib/moses basket/cot - argos catalogues work well!! Although using a folded sheet or muslin under matress does work and is fine it can affect air flow (so I was told by our health visitor).

    Over 3mths

you can use calpol and iburprofen - although only advised if high temp I have given it when baby has a cold and know when I have a cold I feel like poo!! and I would take pain killers so why not give them to baby and usually it does help.

Karvol drops (we didnt buy any special childrens ones) - 6 drops on a muslin folded in 1/2 across top of mattress and tucked in.

we did buy a calpol vapouriser plug in thing and it was rubbish but know people who love the karvol version

With regards to routine - do whatever you normally do where possible but if he wants an extra feed or little snooze then let him - its hard for them to feed for same amount of time as difficult to breath through nose and tires them out

    hope heis better soon

I'd prepare yourself for a sleepless night - get some sleep when your little one is sleeping. Good luck.
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.

No, last night was a nightmare...I got him back to sleep at about 4am (in his bouncy chair and I fell asleep on the sofa) he woke at 5.30am

He is napping now, I tried, but I think im past sleep (coffee!)
