Best way to pay for apartment in Vienna

I hope someone can offer advice as to the best way to pay for an apartment we have booked in Vienna.

It is the Duschel Apartments which seem quite nice and well located. They say payment is either via cash on arrival or bank transfer in advance. As we are staying 8 nights it will be about 2000 euros so we don't really fancy carrying that much cash around! Also, I think that even taking in to account any fees we have to pay, the better rate we would get on a bank transfer would make the overall cost less this way.

I have three options for the transfer, I have current accounts with Barclays, IF and Nationwide. (The latter being a flex account)

What is the best way to work out which offers the lowest fees and best exchange rate? Also, my understanding is that if I use an IBAN number then the recipient won't be charged anything - is this correct? I need to make sure they receive the correct amount so if they will have any fees to pay I need to cover those as well.

I need to get this sorted fairly sharpish as the payment needs to be there within about 20 days. The funds are in my Barclays account at the moment.

Any advice much appreciated!

The best way would be to pay on your credit card, this would give you some consumer protection. You could pre-load the credit card if the limit is not high enough.

Thanks guys, but I was stood in the bank doing the transfer as you both posted.... (No replies after a few days so I thought I wasn't going to get any)

As for paying by card, they don't take card payments and even if I could do some sort of cash advance I can't see I would get any consumer protection.
