BT INFINITY...and beyond?

What have you actually checked through with (or without) TT tech support to solve the problem of the drop outs?
As mentioned before this could be something as simple as a bad filter, or a problem with your extension wiring or wireless set up (if the latter, have you changed the wireless channel?). Speed testing using ethernet from the BT test socket will help to isolate the fault. If still no improvement, post your router stats. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Please keep me updated on how installation goes on 20th ... Good Luck! :T
Will doThere are a few install "horror stories" on the BT Infinity forum hence why I am slightly nervous (like engineers not turning up or things not working the way they should at the exchange...). I have a morning slot for the install so should be able to give a report in the afternoon, though I've seen that it takes a few days for speeds to stabilise.

Install report: whooo-hoo faaaaaaaaaaaaaaast internet
Yes, you can guess, all went without a hitch. Had a call from the engineer this morning saying he was disconnecting my line for a few minutes to sort things out at his end and that he'd be round shortly aftwerwards to finish the install in the flat. He then just changed the faceplate on my master socket, connected the gizmos and that was itgetting arond 30Mbps download on wireless, and faster still via the ethernet cable. Have been told that the speed would be up and down for up to 10 days while it stabilises.
I am sooooooooo happy
The engineer also told me that it was good that I ordered when I did because the local cabinet only has room for 100 connections and that they're now all allocated (hardly surprising given that the whole area is stuck in a broadband not-spot of around 500kpbs on the copper wire due to the distance from the exchange.)
Edit: if I take the netbook to the other end of my flat and as far from the hub as I can (wireless signal down to 70%) I still get a perfectly reasonable 18 to 22Mbps download... nothing to complain about reallyNow free from the incompetence of vodafail0
