3 - end of contract, notice needed?

I currently have a mobile contract with 3 but in my parents name - they don't wish to renew the contract when this ends next month (27th June) am I right in thinking I need them to give 30 days notice to this - so 27th May because they seem to be under the impression the contract just ends and that is that?

Haha - trust me they are, they are totally broke so paying out £20 a month for my contract is no longer an option... as Im more broke than they are I cant afford it either
