To save you time, with the bmi credit card https://wwwn.applyonlinenow.com/UKCCapp/Ctl/entry?sc=5bmihp_ost&mc=BMI-RS-48391-48367
you can get 20,000 free miles which can be redeemed on star alliance airlines in the US, this includes https://www.united.com that fly between LAX and BOS, you do have to pay the taxes fees and charges, but these can be reasonable for one way journeys in the US.
If other air lines are not offering a free stop over this could be a good way of getting a flight, but availability is restricted and may not be available on the day or time you want to travel.
In New York you can get good hotel deals through priceline for hotels in Jersey City which is just the other side of Manhattan. Good if you don't specifically want to stay on manhattan.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0
