My Halifax Easycash account has changed

I've just logged into my Halifax online banking to find my Easycash account seems to have been converted to a Bank Account with Visa debit?! I haven't requested a change as I like my Visa Electron.
Has anyone else experienced this recently? I think I need to call the telephone banking team and try and find out what is going on.

Bumping this up!
Have you spoken to the Halifax, did they tell you what has happened?0 -
Unlikely. I was still under the impression Easycash Accounts cannot be upgraded, a new Current Account (with credit check) must be applied for.
Has the name simply changed on your Online? I've had a few instances when logging in where all my current accounts were referred to as "Bank Account", and savings as "Savings Account", they were also in the wrong order. Seemed to be a "glitch" with the new Online which rectifies itself when logging out and back in again.
Also, there's no where Online which tells you which type debit card you have, so I'm assuming you've surmised from the name.Anything I post is my opinion, so from time to time I may be wrong. I try to provide answers based in fact, however I don't know everything, so (like all posters on MSE), take what I say with a pinch of salt.0 -
I suspect that the OP is correct
I have received a letter today stating that my Money Market cheque account is being converted to a current account (this account was opened without a credit search)
note that they do not mention "Reward" current account in the letter (I suspect that this could be useful for some  )

Change takes place on 30 July 2011 in the case of Money Market Cheque accounts
I suspect that the Easycash accounts will be withdrawn to new applicants shortly

If you log on to your online account - it has a picture of the card issued with the account along side it.
I can clearly see "Visa Electron" on my Easy Cash account and "Visa Debit" on my Reward Current account.0 -

Point taken, but I was talking within the context of the issue I've encountered where I log in and all my current accounts appear as "Bank Account" with a Halifax logo instead of card.Dr_Cuckoo3 wrote:I suspect that the Easycash accounts will be withdrawn to new applicants shortly
Why?
Withdrawing this account would mean HBOS offer no basic bank account, unless they're planning on launching a new account.
Re-designating older, non-marketed accounts, to align them with current offerings is slightly different to upgrading all (or at least the majority of) basic bank account customers to full blown current accounts. Incidentally, the card you have posted appears to be a Visa Debit, suggesting the Money Market Cheque Account is considered more on par with a normal current account (as HBOS do not issue a full-auth Visa Debit) - indeed if the name is indicative of account features, a cheque facility is an option only available to current account customers.
I think we're getting ahead of ourselves, until the OP or a HBOS member of staff can confirm, we can only surmise.Anything I post is my opinion, so from time to time I may be wrong. yes - perhaps I am jumping the gun
Is there any need for basic bank accounts now that cheque guarantee cards have been withdrawn ?
I understand that Electron is being withdrawn
Yes ,the Money Market Cheque Account was a "money talks - no credit search required account"
Nevertheless , I think that anyone wanting a current account would be wise to apply for an Easycash account if declined elsewhere

I've been with Halifax Easycash for years and haven't noticed any changes to my online banking. Neither have I received any sort of notification about any changes being made to my account. I would love to get rid of the Visa Electron card though, I hate carrying it about. If it's true what previous poster said about them scrapping electron I would be over the moon. If anyone hears anything else, can they put it on here? Thanks.Who are you to judge the life I live? I know I'm not perfect and don't live to be.
