Inc 0870 and 0845 in free mins

I signed up to an O2 contract a couple of months ago which includes 0845 and 0870 numbers in the free minutes. It seems like a really good contract. The customer service stuff is provided by Carphone Warehouse (who I got the contract through). Nice thing about them is the phone came pre-unlocked! Also, the deal is 400/100, £35/month before rebates, £12/month after ... touch wood! I'm pretty happy with it so far.0

O2 are the only network to include 0870/0845/0844 calls in their inclusive minutes on contract phone.
However, there has been lots of speculation that this may not be the case for much longer- BUT this is so far unconfirmed by official sources (o2 etc)0 -
It will be a while before O2 drop 0845/0870 numbers from their inclusive minutes.
They're not actually that concerned about these numbers as people that go for contracts specifically with these numbers included and only phone these numbers tend to use them for call routing and are not high profit customers. However, its not expensive for O2 to pay for these either compared to being charged by another network for a x-network call.
O2 is most likely to start off by charging for any 0845/0870 number known to them for call routing. This will enable them to keep the benfit of calling 08 numbers inclusive for customers that need it to call customer service numbers etc.
It all depends on the terms and conditions of the contract, but most network providers tend to have a clause regarding calls to the internet and to call routing companies.
It's unlikely that O2 will drop 08 numbers from their inclusive minutes in the near future.

Is this pure speculation on your part?0 -

Yes, but its pretty sure speculation. I don't think that O2 can withdraw the use of 0845/0870 numbers in general without it resulting in the right for people to cancel their contract. If it does change, it will be to new contracts.

I went in the local O2 shop today and was told that 0870 and 0845 were not inc in the free minutes, the young lad did not know, but went and asked a colleague.0

These numbers are included in all current comsumer price plans. Sales consultants are not the best source of information such as this.

OnlineInclusive call minutes can be used to call some non-geographical and special services numbers with the following prefixes: 0800, 0808, 0844, 0845 and 0870.UK Fixed Line Calls include calls made in the UK to standard UK Fixed-Line Numbers, voicemail menu access and retrieval, fax calls, and calls to free phone, local rate and national rate numbers (0845 and 0870).billsavings wrote:Is their likely to be a change to ngn being included in forseeable future, or is this pure speculation.
I am not joining in on this speculation. If it happens it happens. Existing customers should be able to terminate their contracts if they wish and new customers will be able to check the Ts and Cs before they commit to a new agreement.
