Pirelli Cinturato P1 - new tyre from Pirelli

I've never been a fan of Pirellis either. Yes they do make tyres for supercars but I've found them to be generally poor in the wet. The UK is in a temperate climate where it is wet/damp more often than not. For me this means that I rate wet weather performance over dry weather performance. Look at tyre tests and the difference between tyres in the dry is often a narrow band of % points. Look at wet weather performance of tyres and the difference can be tens of % points. The man without a signature.0

I dont think it's true that Pirelli are poor in the wet these days. Recent tests have shown their P Zero performing well:

Some of them are OK. The P7 is tolerable. But these eco-tyres are likely to be more like the P6000 -- a total joke of a tyre, outgripped by the Admirals I have on the same (second) car.0

Well the 2 tests I linked do not say they are a joke of a tyre in the wet. The Sava and Kleber got significantly worse wet results that any others in the test. And the Michelin in the 195 test scored less.0

They are rather mediocre though by the look of things. I'd be treating them as "decent budget" for the purposes of staying on the road.0

Worries me when the taxation policies of the Government aided by EU emissions bollox means that we need to start using tyres that are less safe to save CO2.0

I would say drive within the tyres limits and you'll be fine. You can have LingLongs all round and you'll be fine as long as you drive carefully. It's when mediocre drivers who cannot handle a car on the limits of grip start pushing beyond what is reasonable that problems occur.0 -
I'd suggest that in order to drive safely and responsibly on public roads you shouldn't be coming close to "the tyres limits" - it's when you need to stop very quickly because of someone else's actions that the performance really comes into play.0

Again by driving carefully you can give yourself more time.0
