Airlines & Passport number

Does anyone know any airlines that you dont need a passport number to book on?
Ryanair?
Basically i'm going on holiday to Portugal with a few friends and one of them does not have a passport yet, he is sending off for one but we are going to book the flights in the next couple of days, bearing in mind its supposed to take 6 weeks for the passport to come.
Any replies would be great!

You dont need a passport to book Ryanair, but you will need one for online check in and Advance passenger info which you will need to supply online b4 you fly.0

For Ryanair, you need the passport number only when you check in, so a couple of days before the flight is fine if you are using online checkin.0
