It is usually at their discretion but 6 weeks is usual.. but you are still covered by the sales act. I have taken a pair back after 3 months and got a full refund.
I am just glad they are stopping doing those stupid ones with the lift up inside which collapses and wreck the childs feet and the shoes!..
My 15 y/o is still in Clarks and the only problem we ever had were with his very first pair believe it or not! He was a 3 J and they simply didn't make them wide enough!
And I moan every year about their boots.. they are all like wellies!
We have never really been able to afford clarks till recently and he had started to complain that all his shoes were tight so took him to be measured he was an 11H and he wanted those with the lift up bit and jack nano toy, so those are his school shoes now.
How long do they last before they collapse or does it vary?
Everything will be ok in the end, and if it isn't ok then it isn't the end0 -
Ours lasted about 3-6 weeks before they collapsed.. they alterred they way the hinged last year and apparently there were fewer complaints but there are still so many they have stopped making them.. boys boots are made differently to the girls ones.. the boys ones are shorter and narrower around the ankle so they give better support. the girls boots are basically tall shoes which have only heel support, whereas the boys ones are more of a walking boot style.
they used to do girls lace up ankle boots which were incredibly popular then they stopped making them because they wanted to go all fashionable.. but most parents I know who go to Clarks do so for the fitting and durability and less about what they look like so it was a stupid marketting move.. I have contacted them about this several times.. and those stupid 'Daisy' shoes. They brought some out the other week for DD3 that looked like Mr Man shoes.. I said she was not even to try them on as they were hideous, like old lady shoes!.. Apparently they are very fashionable.. I said I want well fitting, practical and dry not 'fashionable'.. if i wanted 'fashionable' I could get that for £5 from anywhere!
I always go with the philosophy it doesn't matter what goes on their body so long as it covers them up and keeps them warm but they walk on their feet for their entire lives so they must have something that fits well.
I am very much a shoe snob! lol.. For myself as well as the children.
Where do you recommend getting the boots from? sorry for questions lol.mum to; Two Boys (Non id twins)Two Girls (Id twins)0 -
startrite do lace up ones.. that style (I found they leaked around the pie crust on the top.. have yours been ok?) are beter for the ankle support than the ones with zips up the side because you can adjust how tight they are fastened.. but if the child is prone to a bit of hyperextension they can still bend forwards on the ankle joint which is fine normally just when they are havin a growth spurt the ligaments stretch and before the bones grow this means there is the potential for injury/damage/pain then. For most children it probably isn't an issue. 2 of mine can't even walk in shoes so we had to have boots and that style only offered adequate support until the leather softened and then they were next to useless.
They now have hideous Piedro boots which I have to preend are beautiful when in fact they are just plain horrible and hot and heavy! .. Squeak however, has red glittery plimsolls for grubbing about the floor in!
If you compare the girls shoes to theboys ones in the shop they are lot more durable and better fitting.. I just thought.. I wonder if it is because they have more boys shoes taken back as boys stereotypically play football and are harder on their shoes than girls.. be interesting to find that one out!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -

My twins have these exact boots for school, we bought them in December and they're still going strong. We took them down to be measured last week and they're still the same size so they're still using these as their school shoes.0 -

We bought some clarkes for my son last year, after 2 months the stitching started coming undone. I took them back and said I would like a new pair in a different style (as I suspected the same would happen again) and could my sons feet be measured again as he was only 20 months old at the time and growing like billy-o. The woman said I could get a full refund or have 50% off the price of new shoes in a bigger size!?! I promptly took the refund walked back over and picked up some new shoes in a bigger size.
Don't know why she couldn't have just done that in the first place......0 -

They are these ones:

You cant see on the picture but they have a sort of bubble window on the bottom under where they lift up.
Clarks do not seem to have them on their site anymore but instead I think the next "model" Do you think I would be better of changing them for another type?
