Broadband with lock on the line to stop teenagers using telephone?

My sister and brother-in-law want broadband but they have had to get a lock on their line because their teenage daughters were running up a huge telephone bill. The lock is a code which means that only the people who know the code can use the telephone line, hence the teenagers cannot run up a big telephone bill any more.

Can they get broadband when they have this lock on the phone, which was only put on recently but obviously they want to keep because their bills have dropped dramatically? BT provides their line and telephone service.

I dont see why not as broadband dosent dial in or out so shouldnt affect the lock in place

According to Primus they need to keep their BT line and calls with BT and get their broadband with whoever they like. Wonder who is cheapest for this situation?

I'm sorta confused by the last post.

Basically a phone lock on the line will have no bearing on the broadband. So yes they can have broadband on the line.

Have I got this correct then? They have to keep their expensive telephone calls with BT and get broadband with whoever they like?

Well they can pay line rental/call charges with anyone, and they can get broadband with any company they like.

5 working days as soon as the order placed, to be on the safe side i'd get the order in before 15th December.

As for good deal, well a good deal might not always mean the cheapest! Do your homework, as a good & reliable broadband service with good customer service is often a better choice than the cheapest!

Why not give Primus a call as they do a good deal on broadband complete with free evening and weekend calls. they would still pay BT for the line rental but the calls & broadband would be billed by Primus.
I am with them & I think from memory it works out at about £13.00 per month for 1 meg broadband & free evening & weekend calls if you sign up for 18 months.

    Hope that helps

They cannot keep the lock on their phone if they use another company other than BT for their calls.
