Don't know about other banks, but with HSBC self service deposit machines: you slot in your debit card then deposit cash/cheques - no need for a paying in slip and the money automatically gets allocated to your acct.

The OP is talking about a cheque paid in through an external ATM, rather than the Immediate Deposit Machine that you have used.

Halifax do have Immediate Deposit Machines which are exactly the same as HSBCs (although cheques are credited instantly \t Halifax rather than the following day at HSBC), but, like HSBC, these are just inside branches ... meaning that if you are there out of hours you need to use an ATM.
  • Were you able to resolve your DVLA Halifax cheque deposit issue?

I deposited 3 cheques using a Halifax ATM earlier this week- 2 normal cheques and one from the DVLA- all in the same envelope. The 2 normal ones are showing as pending on my account but no sign of the DVLA one. I had written the account number, sort code and my signature on the back.
Have just got off the phone with the call centre (again)... branch issue.. need to call them directly.
