If it was paid into the ATM, it should be linked to your account in that manner. I can't remember how long it took to process the cheque and for it to show on my account.

Yes, it was my halifax card deposting in to my halifax account, I have never had to fill out anything before. It has always processed fine. This time it has not registered a deposit on my account.

But it at least shows on your transaction list that a cheque has been paid in, whether or not I can withdraw funds, it will always say a cheque has been deposited.

With all the recent changes to Halifax systems, I wonder if they've changed to only showing cheques once they've cleared? Certainly the machine used to print the account details onto the envelope during the deposit process.

Deposits done via the ATM are credited on the next working day. Your account details are printed on the white envelope when you enter it through the slot.

If the cheque is not showing on your account I would contact the branch as soon as you can.

I spent all morning from 9am - 12pm trying to ring the store and the 'switchboard' they have. Looks like I shall have to go to branch in person to sort it out ! PITA

Why are you ringing the store? Were you trying to get them to cancel the cheque and issue a new one?

When I last put a cheque in (a few months ago) it took ages to show in my account. Well over a week. I'm crap with money and I thought I'd spent it all and panicked, until it suddenly showed up in my account!

Don't know about other banks, but with HSBC self service deposit machines: you slot in your debit card then deposit cash/cheques - no need for a paying in slip and the money automatically gets allocated to your acct.
