Hello All
Just looking for a bit of advice, i recently moved into my first flat and need to give npower my electricity meter reading so i can use there beta energy forcasting thing online, to do this you need to enter two readings. I have one which the inventory lady took when i moved in of 33805 and i took another reading today which is 33037, lower than the first? Does this mean my meter is going backwards?! Or can i just not read it properly? I have linked it below!

Hi,
according to your photie, your meter is now reading, 33027, looks as though the lady should've had 32805.
If pointer between two numbers always take the lower, not the one that it is closest to.0 -
Thank you!
So i wasnt far off then with my reading!
I think i'd better ring Npower....do you think they will accept that the Inventory lady got it wrong!?0 -
It is very easy to misread those meters.
As said above, you are showing 33027, and I would also have thought that 32805 was the reading when you moved in.
The previous occupant will have paid too much when they moved out.0 -
Hi,
here's a wee helper,
Reading a dial meter
If the pointer falls between two numbers, always read the lower number – in Fig A you would write down the number 4.
If the pointer is directly over a number always record it – in Fig B you would write down the number 5.
If the pointer on a dial falls between 9 and 0, reduce the reading already taken for the dial on the left by one – for example, if your original recorded 5, reduce this to 4.
Following these instructions, the correct meter reading for the dial in the diagram will be 44928.0 -
Thanks, I did google and look at some diagrams before asking, just wanted it confirming by a real person lol!
Now the issue is what to do about the original reading being wrong, as said above, the previous occupant (the landlord) will have paid too much on there last bill!0 -

well, thing is, whoever moved out has paid for 1000 units too much, which might be queried by him/her, when receive the final bill.
You could let it go and get 1000 'free' units, then argue it out later if questioned.0 -
Hi,
back again,
so going on the premise that the lady got it wrong, you have used 222 units.
How long have you been in flat?0 -
even people at work cant read these meters, they will understandDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

I have lived there for 5 weeks since (April 1st), 2 people in a one bed flat! Not sure if we are using lots or not, first time I've ever had to deal with any of this. We are trying to be careful by making sure nothing is left on apart from the fridge and freezer and keeping laptop charging to a minimum...!0
