Visions of someone getting to the other side of the pedestrian crossing to find their Bargain Booze bag leaking all over the pavement and a screwdriver half-buried in a can of Stella. :)

That same person finding blood pooling on the floor and a screwdriver half-buried in their skull is of course the post-watershed version of that joke. :)

    No problem there.
I don't brake for pedestrian crossings.

Good point, goes onto the filter housing doesn't it?

Not on any Ford I've seen since the 1990's. Even on my last Ford Capri, it went straight to the inlet manifold.

Touching it, maybe not, but there certainly is something in all Ford inspection schedules that states that they should check for general condition, routing and leaks of all pipes in the engine compartment.

    The following is a direct

And even the most basic Ford inspection covers: (from Ford themselves)

And by check they mean visual. They don't go removing pipes.

Just something to worry the OP though....

I've seen it when piston rings have worn and the resultant crankcase pressure has popped a breather hose off....

Just to point out that when I service my cars, I do pull the breather hoses off to check they're not blocked up.... Blocked breathers hoses = no crankcase ventilation = excess pressure = very bad.

Short journey's and blown HG are the two main causes of blocked breather hoses, obviously the HG would be very serious.
Less likely cause (but mentioned on these forums once) is if some pillock fills the engine with water :p lol

Sounds to me like they took the breather hose off to check for blockage, it's not common practice and not an official part of the servicing, but you never know if they'd been made to do it by Ford because of a known fault OR maybe even to rectify a minor fault that they'd rather keep under wraps than do a full (and embarrassing) recall for.

Ford could say to all their franchised dealerships "check XYZ on every <engine size> you service and replace XYZ with new part" = avoids anyone knowing about a fault and fixes 90% of the affected cars.

I'd be checking around either end of that hose for freshly damaged screw/bolt heads ;)
