Oh dear, check with Equifax & CallCredit as well
Can I find out my credit score?
You do not have a single credit score or rating. Different organisations take different information into account when working out your credit score and may have different scores for different products. (Kindly from Experian)

Despite the rhetoric above, the debt is statue barred and you wont have to pay it. Send appropriate letter and ignore.

Wow how many people tonight feeling that they can dish out moral advice?? Jezarel came on here asking advice on a situation, if we want to get moral then maybe the banks should pay everyone back the money they owe that they illegally took for charges...and before you start with the test case, it was illegal, its just that the courts have decided to make it legal cos its the banks

Jezarel, it is statute barred....law protects you here, no moral or ethical argument....no need to pay

    My advice is

    1) Ignore any moral judgments on here and don't even bother answering
    2) Check all 3 credit reports. I would suggest paying £2 for statutory reports and don't sign up for free trials which can be costly if you forget to cancel, or have to hang on the phone for an hour to cancel.
    3) If nothing is showing ignore the letter. It's probably a try-on hoping someone scared will pay up and it's also probably statute barred as it's too old as well.
    4) Do not under any circumstances acknowledge the debt.
    5) Don't be put off asking for advice, there is lots of good helpful advice on these forums despite the rubbish you have to ignore.

Why shouldnt you pay it off? The idea of credit cards is you borrow money on them and then PAY it off, not run away!

Lol, The op clearly stated he was young and stupid, weren't we all at some point.

Pay off a debt that doesn't exist and is unenforceable ? I fail to see your common sense kicking in here.

    My advice to the op,

    - Ignore any correspondence with them, When you receive a letter and you think its from them, Check the return address usually on the back of the envelope (Don't open the letter), Do a quick google search on the postcode and address, If it is them, Then simply write the following on the envelope, Then drop it in a postbox.

    - 'I do not recognize you, I do not understand your intent. I do not have an international treaty with you. No assured value, No liability'

Also write a few times on the envelope,

    - 'No Contract, Return to sender'.

    Peace.

the fact that you recently got credit may mean that you have know shown up on their radar - it also indicates you have some money to burn.

If you have multiple past debts then they may start coming back to haunt you via debt collection agencies.

Because they know you're the person they're after, Hence why they are sending letters to your address, By doing what i suggested, You're denying any knowledge of any debt, And also you are stating that you have NO Contract with them.

Regardless of weather or not you are the person they are after, the debt is statute barred so they can just !!!!!! off.

Anyway, we never took out damn debts out with CRA's, they are money making organisations setup purely to profit out of people in hardship....if the bank want their money then they can chase us

I'm curious about this not having an international treaty or no assured value thing.
