How long for tax credits to update?

Husband rang tax credits yesterday to renew by phone. We gave an estimated income of 19500 for 2010/11 however the figure on his p60 indicates he actually only earnt 17237 so under 2k less. They have updated the system and said our new award will arive in post.
How long does this usually take? also does this mean they owe us the difference between the 2 figures (£2263)? I cant see them giving us a payment of over 2 grand somehow

Yes they do owe you. They don't owe you £2k but I think around £1600 because AFAIR once you get above £15k, reductions in award are at 75p for every £1 you earn.0

oh great...might get to go on holiday this year after all then hehe. Do you know how long it takes for the new award to come out and any payments they owe to be made?0

Yes you should get back approx 40% of the underpayment, so just over £1300 by my calculations.
I phoned in with changes on Tues, and phoned in today to find out my payment schedule, and it was there ready, however was told the paperwork would take up to 4 weeks to arrive.
It's worth calling in and asking if they have your new payment schedule and amounts per week. 0845 300 3900.0 -
Thanks, will the underpayment be calculated at the same time as the new payments or will I have to wait months for it x0

When I had an underpayment it came in with the first payment. Although it wasn't for as much as yours, so I'm not 100% certain if the amount makes a difference to when you recieve it, it shoudn't do. It's your money and as soon as the claim is finalised it should be released back to you in a lump sum.0 -
