I'm also hoping to have a DIY photobooth, and am planning to set my carpentry-enthusiast bro the task of building one as his wedding present to us! I'll help decorate it (and make props), and am hoping we can pull off something like one of these:

My sister has offered her old SLR camera and tripod, and I'll buy a 6ft shutter cable so people can pose and take their own pics. Just need to figure out if there's a workable way of printing copies for people to take home.....0 -

would love one, but same cant afford one lol xAccept that some days you're the pigeon, and some days you're the statue. Only fools are statues every day. (15.09.12 cant wait!)0

I will definitely be having one of these!! I swayed between hiring one or making my own one but I like the idea of instant pictures and the guests getting one copy and having one for a guest book too

I love this idea! I hadn't come accross it before so after reading it yesterday I immediately went on ebay to see what bargains I could find (had to be a home made option for me budget wise!). And I was super excited, and I couldn't wait to tell my blokey all about and when I did he said....
'it's tacky'.....
I think it's brilliant, and it made me very grumpy he hated it...

Miss Bolan, my OH had the exact same reaction (and used that exact word!). I pointed out (in a Bridezilla-y tantrum) that I had spent hours and hours looking into this, researching what's involved, reading other brides' accounts of how fabulous an addition it made to their day etc, and how unfair it was that he had dismissed it in two seconds flat. So he agreed to look at pics of some and has now begrudgingly admitted "it might be ok". Ha!

We had a video message booth which I highly, highly recommend. So instead of photos your guests go in there and are asked questions and to sing along with a song and then it all guests edited together at the end as aprt of your wedding video. Best money I ever spent and I'm happier with the video than I am with our photos

Here's the link for who we used: http://shortfilmcompany.com/
The pic on their homepage is from our wedding - they are holding my flowers :rotfl:0 -
I'm working LOTS of overtime to have one!!

Ahh there's hope for me yet then. I don't think it's tacky, I think it's adorable.. plus I think MSE wise you are more likely to get better photo's than disposable cameras on the tables!
I will keep making subtle hints to him about why this is a good idea.... :rotfl:
