Why would someone not want to work there? It's a job which pays money.

Where do you work as that attitude seems very immature?

i dont work at the minute(no fault of mine, ive been turned down like 4 times), the reason why im not working is because im at college, theres certain jobs i just wouldnt do and working in macdonalds is 1 of them, im sorry if my attitude was immature but thats your opinion,

Well perhaps if you look at it with an open mind........you have been turned down for four jobs in a row then others may also think there is a problem with your attitude?

I don't understand how it's "no fault of your own"? Who's fault is it then? Mine perhaps? Or perhaps you're blaming this one on the dog? ;)

Good luck with your college course. I hope it helps to mature you enough to get the chip off your shoulder about picking and chosing employment.

What jobs are you looking for when your course finishes?

That's fine, don't work if you don't want to ... but ... don't expect the rest of us to pay you. OK?

Why would you not work in MacDonald's? If you need a job and are not ill...

If not other things that are just as flexible to a timetable are out there. Eg, you could work as:

A careworker in a nursing home
    in Sainsbury's / a supermarket
    get a paper round
Work in a local caff as a wahser upper / waiter
Get a handyman/odd job thing going

You could get some references sorted and work as:

    a babysitter
    a companion/carer/shopper for a disabled person/shut in person

When I was looking moving jobs (with experience and contacts giving me mock interviews) I went to a few interviews with a countless amounts of application forms where I didn't even hear back.

You should worry more about having pride in a job well done whatever and where ever you do it than to dismiss a job out of hand.

Sorry to sound harsh, but the dismissal of a dustman or shelf stacker who gets up every morning, does the best job he can, pays taxes and sets an example to his kids v complaining that you can't find a job after only four attempts is very weak.

That attitude is at the heart of why they come over here and take our jobs

I know someone who was a big time consultant in Iraq? who came to this country, found his qualifications did not travel and took a job delivering pizzas and stacking shelves to feed his family while he studied full time to get his qualifications.

You're not the OPs 17 year old son are you? :D But yes, you are right we should get back on track so do you have anything relevant or constructive to add? If I had a choice of spending my time getting paid at McDonald's or spending my time not getting paid trolling on a forum I know which I'd choose ;)

Savvy Sue - You're right. If the young person requests a Connexions PA they are usually allocated one. However, not every young person will get an allocated PA unless they require intensive support. Although of course every young person has access to a PA through school/college or local centre.

i dont need to mature, im a mature adult an di just wouldnt work at mcdonalds, the reason i was turned down was because there was nothing suitable, i asked asda if they had any p/t work and they said tehy were very impressed with my application but they had nothing at present, i dnt have an attitude withy my problem but thanks for pointing it out, hey ive worked for 11 years of my life so my attitude isnt bad, if i wanna be picky about what job i want then fine thats my choice,

Were they really? Hope you spell checked it & used at least some punctuation?

I don't think you can afford to be picky about what job you take if you are being turned down for jobs at Asda and Sainsburys. Asda may not have had anything at the time but they certainly keep applications they like on file and will take on extra staff over busier periods. Maybe they weren't as impressed as you say? (I'm certainly not).
