in Credit cards
Hi Guys,
I've been searching for ages but cant seem to find the answer, hope someone can help.
I've bought a Tablet from Maplin for £99.99 yesterday on a debit card, i've taken it home and my GF isnt loving it so im planning to return to store today for a refund. However the card i used is now blocked and a new card has been issued but i wont receive this for 7-10 days. My question is can i be refunded to another debit card? or what happens now
Thanks so much

This depends on the store policy so I gather it would be best to look on the Maplins website and speak with them direct first.
I can't see why they wouldn't be able to refund this to another card as long as everything is correct in the box and you have the valid receipt.
If not though they will either give you a credit note or a refund by other means such as cash.
If you wan't to exchange it for something else though would make it easier.David
£1 of debt is too much for me!0 -
Please remember that because it is not faulty the store are not obliged to refund you, exchange the product or do anything else, so if they were to offer you vouchers it may be best to just accept them.0

Stores tend to try to avoid this as you could potentially be money laundering....
But if you don't mention that it is a different card they may not notice.0 -
I thought I read here that money can still be refunded to old/blocked cards but I may be wrong0

I've done it several times before. I think in the case that someone else (perhaps the GF) had bought it on theirs and I had to return it. I just told them the original card and account had been closed and could only supply an alternative card to refund to. Never had a problem.
However I haven't needed to do this for quite a while.
In your case, won't the replacement card have the same debit card number (just new valid from/to dates)? If so, I can't see them having any problems refunding to the new card0 -
no it'll be a new number as i needed to block it due to the Sony Playstation issues.
i'm going to go in this evening.
ive read that on here too ehlo, not sure thats correct though
thx guys0 -
In the store I work in we carefully check the card details from the receipt before a refund is allowed, for a large amount like that I'm pretty sure they'd be quite strict, they may give you store credit or vouchers or something thoughThe frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0

so what would be the rules surrounding that in your store?
i physically still have the card but i doubt they can credit it, and i have a different debit card in my name, im hoping the can put it on that.0 -
take the old card in along with your other debit card, explain the situation with the replacement card, and if they are going to refund you, there will be no issues, as the names will match.
the issue is of course, whether they will refund full stop. It's a health benefit ...0 -
thanks hopefully that will work
but it does say on the receipt i can have a replacement, exchange or refund providing its with all accessories and in a unused condition
so fingers crossed0
