Asda have put it up again to £1.25, day light robbery!Nothing to see here, move along.0

My local co op normally charges £1.75 for a 250g pack of Anchor butter!!!! At the moment it's on offer at 2 packs for £2.50, but last year it's standard price was 99p for 250g, so it's nearly doubled in price now.0

Butter has been one of the best examples of the supermarkets' price gouging this past year. Until six months ago most of the major supermarkets would have one of the big brands on a 'twofer one pound' offer - even Lurpak. Now you're lucky to see much better than twofer £1.50, with own-brand butters now priced at £1.10 or over.
The reason? There isn't one - ask a dairy farmer. Higher transport costs might have added a penny or two, but that's all: the rest is down to the supermarkets blaming generalised inflation and their policy of keeping their prices more or less in step, while pretending they compete with one another.
A similar thing happened with own-brand vodka early this year. The majors locked step to impose a massive price rise and hid it around an increase in duty.0 -
I think Marks and Spencer is £1.10. It was 98p until recently. I can't believe the price of butter. I have had enough of buying food!0

1kg of Lurpak is £3.00 at Asda jsut now and 500g is 2 for £4.50.0

My local Co-op had Lurpak (250g) reduced to £1 this week, might be worth checking out if there's one near you, no idea if it's just local or in many stores.0
