I support all the other answers above but if you do work, even for a short while, do be mindful of possibly losing CA. I received CA for looking after my disabled son for a good ten years. When I decided I had to return to part-time work to get 'back into the workplace' - as the government encourage you to do, my hours went over 16 a week (to 20) and I earned just over the weekly allowance of £100 a week. I lost ALL Carer's Allowance - completely! This reduced my monthly income by £215 a month.
It is commendable of you to say what you have said...good luck with your decision.

Hi my son gets mrc dla and someone said to me to claim carers i dont have to do i? i feel cheeky applying for that because i brought him into this world and i have to look after him, i think we would be worse off if i applied as well. thank you

Are you having to care for him in a way that you wouldn't if he was fit and healthy? The usual expectation is that children will become independent of parental care.

No-one will force you to claim CA if you don't want to but you are entitled to it.
