Um, this thread is nearly two years old?
That's one patient buyer, lucky they haven't got a laptop to leave bad feedback.

    Thanks!
It now turns out I need to send it to NI (from UK Mainland), which I guess changes things a bit!
    But, it's approx 3.3kg, 27*43*8 cm
    I think I'm looking at about £20, + insurance
For NI, Special Delivery may be your best bet as most carriers will charge a supplement. As has been said SD is very reliable and better to deal with if you did need to claim. £26.60 including insurance up to £500.

Just got off the phone to Collect+ Customer Service, spoke to a guy called Byron who assured me that they will deliver and insure Laptops etc no problem AS LONG AS you have packaged it correctly AND you take out the optional insurance to the value of the item (Any Item Maximum payout would be £300 in any case). He advised taking photos to show it has been packaged correctly in case of a claim.

Their smallprint in their T&C confirms that Electrical Items inc Laptops are not on the exclusion list.

The reason why I used Collect+ was by chance as normally use RM Special Delivery but when I took it to the Post Office, the item was apparently too heavy - 3.5KG for Special Delivery. Post office said they could send it Parcelforce at £17.49 insured up to £500 but laptops were excluded!
