All you need to do is walk into any electrical store and look for yourself. Some of the LCD's showing HD are amazing some are quite frankly rubbish (usually cheapo cr*p).

I think where LCD HDTV is concerned in most cases you get what you pay for!

Also the picture quality on LCD without an HD signal is generally very poor, especially on some sky channels and football, the picture pixelates something chronic!). I'd say wait until everything is broadcast in HD before piling in.. My CRT is very good quality at the moment which I don't want to exchange for pixelation..
  • It's a complete myth that more expensive means better quality. If you are looking to invest in a TV like this, you must do your research first.

Several months ago I bought a Novatech Q321 32" HD LCD TV. I paid £599 for it. Now this TV was actually a *branded* Hyundai Q321 - just that the vendor couldn't advertise it as being Hyundai if they were being sold at that price. These TV's have a panel that is made by Samsung and used in the top of the range Samsung 32" LCD's that sell for about £1000. The same panel was also badged up as a Marantz TV and sold for £1000 more than I paid for it.

So this shows that if I'd have bought the Marantz telly for £1600 I'd have NO BETTER a TV than I bought for £600. It's exactly the same TV just with a different badge.

Do your research - there's plenty of information out there on the internet - and don't make a spontaneous purchase of one of these before you know exactly what you are buying.

I purchased A.S 37 LCD from argos couple months ago I paid £666 in the sale :) picture quality wasnt to bad, but the sound was awful, It wouldnt work with my same brand surround sound,so I sent it back!!
Thanks to mse I found some vouchers/codes and purchased samsung 40 in LCD for £803.in store price was £1024 !! Picture quality pretty good sound excellent.
but because we have'nt got sky connected at certain times the picture on close up would go umm um 'blocke' if you know what I mean...So have just returned it and now waiting for next new codes to be issued to purchase a 1080dpi .....which I am told is better than HD....also they are working on a new nano tube which is supposed to be better still...we cant keep up with how fast technolgy is moving..
I would love to be a Travel Agent :j

My parents got a Toshiba 37WLT66 a couple of weeks ao and I have to say that i'me quite envious. It is without doubt the best HD LCD TV i've yet seen.

They did do their homework before they got it and the result is a TV that doesn't disappoint in any area.

I'd say this Toshiba 32WLT66 represents a very good deal right now. It's currently £639 at Dixons, but using a couple of vouchers will bring it down to £569.99 delivered.

I've added the codes to the Voucher Code board.

i thought there were only 3 or 4 main companies in the WORLD who make main parts for all the brands!!!!:D

bye the way we had a delivery of 32'' tv's in the warehouse last night so woolies stores which are out of stock should have some soon;)
Honesty is the best policy doesn't matter which web site
    you are on!

if i had known then what i know now!

a bargain is only a bargain if you really need it!
  • the argos product has been deleted as current stock as of a week ago they had no stock went into store explained to assistant he came back product delisted so its a bit naughty to post a bargain on the online site which on the same it went up wasn,t available
  • Yes, it looks like both these TVs have only analogue tuners. This really annoys me. So many flatscreen TVs are analogue only and with the analogue transmitter switch-off being only a year or so away in some areas, I don't think manufacturers should be allowed to get away with it. Why doesn't the government insist that all analogue-only TVs should be labelled as such? The public is being ripped off!

  • :rotfl: In 3yrs they will all be obsolete anyway, so why waste money, when a cheaper version will last long enough. That's of course the quality is good! Argos have a 16 day return, so if you think it's crap, take it back. Also remember that the 1 year guarantee is only the manufactors and dosn't effect your stat' rights! i.e. If it breaks down within a "reasonable time", then take it back.:T

Just my opinion, here folks. but.....

Is it really worth going for Cheapo's when cheap still means a hell of a lot of money?

This is furniture, Has got to display what you are watching, well, and needs to have excellent sound quality - otherwise you will be very unsatisfied with your purchase.

    Or am I wrong?

Cheap usually means 'CHEAP QUALITY' doesn't it? And two sets at £399.00 in ten years costs more than one that'll last ten years, so is it Money Saving?
  • All sound from a large TV should go through a proper surround amplifier with millions of speakers, so the tv sounds irrelevant! My sky box goes straight to the amp, which comes out in full digiatal sound!

Lol, you may be right there.

It was only a few years ago that I took delivery of my Panasonic CRT 100MHZ flat screen TV and was blown away by its quality and now it's already obsolete.
